“Good link to Brighton Marina”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

Just east of the pier,we got the Volks railway to the Marina.
Took just over ten minutes and around £6 return, good value, leaves every half hour.

“Ride to the Marina in Style”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

We took a family with teenagers for a day trip to Brighton.

To find Volks Railway from the station head straight down until you reach the sea front. Then walk along the front towards the pier and after passing the Pier you will find the ticket office for the railway.

Best value is to purchase a return ticket.

The railway runs along the sea shore stopping at The Halfway Station where you can break the trip and get a snack at the Cafe or just watch the Beach Volleyball.

The journey ends just before the Marina and you can then walk into the Marina a where many shops and restaurants can be found even the obligatory McDonald's.

When we visited a new feature in the Sand Sculpture Exhibition which is between the Marina Railway Station and Marina itself.

Teenagers are difficult to please but they all enjoyed the ride both ways.

This line is a must also for railway buffs and did in fact start operating in 1883 when Marcus Volk built it. The current line opened after the 2nd World War in 1948 and is now run by Brighton Council with the help of enthusiastic volunteers.

So if having time out in Brighton do try to take a ride as it really is a bit of nostalgic fun and saves a long walk to the Marina.

“Great fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

We do this every year when friends come down with their kids. Great way to get down to the Marina for retail therapy and lunch. Dogs are also welcome.
