“A trip back in time - wonderful for kids”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2012

Hove Park is a wonderful place to visit - very, very big and well laid out.

It's well kept and has toilet facilities and a cafe.

There are tennis courts for the energetic!

There's also the historic "goldstone" - which isn't gold but is very big - that's near to one end of the park, by the big main road, opposite the retail park - which is where the Brighton & Hove football ground used to be!

There's also a really good children's play park here - it was completely refurbished a few years ago and has some wonderful things for kids of all ages to lose some energy on! It's in a closed in area, so completely safe.

There's loads of free parking along the big road running alongside the park.

“Great fun for the kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012 via mobile

Short miniature railway on the edge of Hove Park, with small engines pulling a single carriage which is suitable for a family of four.

Ride is maybe 3 or 4 mins long but has a tunnel! Clearly those that run it are dedicated and care greatly for their trains, so good to go along and support them.

“Ok for what it is!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2012

The overall experience is great for kids aged 1 to 101 and the dedication and enthusiasm of the volunteers and enthusiasts is clear. The engines are clearly also the apples of their owners eyes and a lot of time and effort has gone into building them. Having sampled both miniture railways at Field Place, Worthing and Hove Park I do think that the miniture railway at Field imho is much better. A longer more scenic ride, the same choice of steam or diesel trains, but at 50p a go per person it makes Hove more expensive. Field place also has very reasonably priced refreshments which is an added bonus.

“Sweet little railway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2012

This is a lovely thing to do with kids. It's a sweet little railway. Not a very long or exciting ride but they love riding on the miniature trains and the whole thing is run with such dedication by a team of volunteers. You can ride diesel or steam trains and most people opt for the steam. Great thing to do on a summer's day. It's only open certain weekends during the season so worth checking.

“The kids love it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2011

This is a great example of a miniature railway with very well presented engines that are obviously very well maintained by their owners.
