The pier itself is fantastic - a real testiment to engineering that's stood the test of time. It's really lovely to take a promonade down the pier, looking out to sea or back accross the sea front of Brighton. You can buy some fish and chips to eat while you wander - but look out for dive-bombing seagulls though! Maybe better to sit in the lovely fish and chip resterant (out of the wind) and then continue your walk.
The attractions on the pier are like a mini-funfair, with large arcades that are bright and noisy. It's fun to spend a little time in them if that's your thing - personally it's more fun to me just playing the penny machines of a by-gone era - but the fun of being on the pier is the experience itself, rather than any of the things on there.
