“Check height restrictions before you buy tokens”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

The height restrictions on the rides are excessive - there was very little our youngest could go on, and even our 7 year old had to sit in the carriage on the carousel rather than on a horse because my husband was deemed to be supervising our youngest. Most of the rides require children to be accompanied - a cynical way of making parents pay for a ride. Obviously all depends on how tall your kids are, but work out what they can and can't go on before you buy £20 of tokens, and make sure you prepare them for disappointment.

Giving it a 2 rather than a 1 purely because I love the dolphin derby.

“Classic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

What you'd expect from a Victorian seaside's pier! Amusements, food, shops, a nightclub and some very scary rides that have you dangling over the sea! Beautiful views and of course moo moo milkshakes, the best I've tasted! Go for the malteser one or try a special. They'll mix any combination of chocolate bars, biscuits, cereals, even sweets like flying saucers and iced gems. Anything goes!

“For Big and Little Kids Alike”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

I really had genuine fun here but it’s not something that will appeal to everyone, though for me it was a real spoil-my-inner-child good time. Basically it’s a fairground with rides, win-a-prize-games, junk food and arcades that extended off into the coast of Brighton. Though not massive in scale as compared to say, Disneyland, there's still a good afternoon's worth of fairground fun times to be had.

We had dinner at the main fish-and-chips restaurant there which was a little overpriced but still very enjoyable. There were some little tchotchke/souvenirs shops but nothing that demanded our money and attention. I did, however, get rather enthralled with the games where you move a mechanical claw around to try and capture a stuffed animal. I won four times and I don't care how much it cost me to get them, they're mine now!

Kids will have a great time but budget-minded parents be forewarned: there is nothing free to do here except enjoy the expansive views of Brighton's coastline (which in itself is quite beautiful, snapped some excellent sunset pictures here). It's in very good repair and clean enough for such a well-used location.

The Pros
- fairground fun for all the good boys and girls
- lots of games and rides but not too many that you'd miss something on your first visit
- great views of the ocean/coastline
- sugar sugar sugar a plenty!
- the main restaurant was pretty good for fish and chips

The Cons
- not cheap if you want to play the games
- some of the arcade games didn't work as well as they should have
- hard to find healthy food - ha ha why are you here if you want that though?
- crowded at times, more crowded at other times
- watch your cellphone! It's thin enough to drop through the spaces between wooden floor boards if you're not careful

“Pier to visit with kids”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

Its many lights, music, action, atraction, games, drinks, snacks, sea wiev, wind and nice atmosphere. For young people and families with kids its very interesting to visit and have fun during evening hours mostly. Before we was there at autumn time and it was too cold, but last time we was during summer evening and we got nice memories and feelings during evening.
