We visit Brighton twice a year when we are in the south. Usually it is mid to late afternoon when we arrive. Brighton pier just seems to beckon a visit and nothing looks better with a sun setting behind it.
There is no fee to get on the pier so if it is just a quick walk to the end and back it is definitely worth a visit.
There are some good facilities on the pier, plenty to eat, in and out from traditional seaside fare to more expensive choices. Our favourite place at the end of the pier hidden beside the funfair rides is a noodle takeaway, cooked while you watch, very economical, extrememly tasty and filling, with portions available to meet your appetite. Lit up at night the pier looks even more inviting and looking towards the promenade the Brighton Eye adds something spectacular to the view.
If you want some excitement to your visit the rides look very good and a fair price for the venue overlooking the sea. There are some good and interesting souvenirs to buy and you can have your fortune read or henna tattoos.
We visited once on a really still and misty day this year which really added to the atmosphere.
Brighton promenade and the arches are nearby as are the famous Lanes, so if the pier doesn't quite hit the spot there are alternatives for everyone to enjoy.
