“Another good stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW

Nice hotel on the seafront with parking in their private garage on first-come-first-served basis. Had a sea view room this time which was very nice although a bit noisy throughout the night from people going by outside. Comfortable bed, good range of furniture, nice big bathroom and toiletries. Have booked to stay for a third time.

This trip holds great memories for me as it was where my hubby proposed, right on Brighton pier! We stayed in the Old Ship on what is now our engagement residence. The staff were friendly, hotel lovely and we had a beachfront room. It's prominent and around the corner from everything. What's not to like :)

Room Tip: The Beachfront room is best but would come back in summer.

We stopped using this hotel, as it "had lost it's way". But it's back.
Arrived at 10.30, a bit early, but our 2 rooms were ready. Sea facing really nice.
Well decorated/furnished room. Bathroom nice.
The staff were all very helpful.
Good parking, you can leave your keys and know there will be no problems.
The chap in the garage must have been there 30 years or more, always polite and helpful.
Also the lady in the restaurant has been there many years, always nice.
People like this will always make you return.
Overall, no complaints, great hotel.

Room Tip: 223/224. Sea facing

I have to agree with other reviewers that this hotel is tired and shabby and is not really deserving of 4 stars. However,it is comfortable despite this. We found the staff friendly and helpful, the breakfast very good and the location brilliant. Parking is very expensive if you can get in to their small garage.

Me and my fiancée stayed at the oldship on Friday evening, the reception is nice and the bar is probably the nicest part of the hotel. To get to our room we had to climb 4 flights of stairs with suitcases as there is only space for one person in the lift, then finding our room was almost impossible. After winding around the hotels small corridors we got to our room. It was very small and only had space for the bed and a tv at a push. The bathroom was very small, needed redecorating like the whole hotel however it was clean. After a night out we came back to the hotel and didn't sleep very well due to the fact we were right on top of the heat generators that made a constant noise all night.

Overall dissapointing.

Booked at the Old Ship has we were having a night oout in central Brighton. The hotel is on the seafront and just a couple of minutes from the Lanes where we were headed so this was ideal. The seaview room was very large, plenty of room for getting ready. Would have given full marks but the decor is a little dated & tired-looking but everything was clean & worked, there were a lot more TV channels then you get in some rooms. The staff were also very friendly.

Room Tip: The seaview room was gorgeous but would be noisy on a weekend so if this worries you, you might pref...

We had two wondefully large double rooms with direct sea views and most importantly the most comfortable bed I think I have ever slept in. The staff were also really friendly and helfpul. The hotel itself is listed as the oldest hotel in Brighton with amazing history and a real quirky charm, The location is also fantastic being right on the seafront, in the city centre, near all the main attractions and of course the famous Lanes, so it was great for all our christmas shopping! The bar staff were great as we styed up quite late and very happy to continue serving us. thank you everyone for a lovely stay!

Room Tip: Ask for seaview
