“Very satisfied customer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2014 via mobile

The atmosphere at the Ginger Dog is very welcoming, tucked around the corner from the bar is the restaurant area which with its red leather sofa/seats creates a comfy homely feel.
The food is beautifully presented and delicious, the menu' regularly changes and there is always something that even the most 'difficult ' tastes will like and devour. The wine selection is very good and so was the service..; this explains why my husband and I go back time and time again!

“Not recommended”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014 via mobile

We were looking forward to a meal at the Ginger Dog, however, that proved to be optimistic. The ambiance is non existent; a lukewarm bottle of water handed to you by an equally lukewarm waitress was the introduction. The sirloin was quite tough and served with a strange, rocklike substance. The chips were pale, soft and very greasy. This is a pub, a fairly average pub.

“Oh dear what a disappointment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2014

Visited on Easter Monday for a family lunch.
The outside of the building looks seriously shabby & parts of the interior need attention. When paying £125 for four lunches one expects some quality environment.
The restaurant is one we have visited as a family group before and as individuals too. Previous experiences were good.
It would appear that things have changed with portions now verging on Nouvelle Cuisine and prices well exceeding reasonable.
Service was indifferent which was surprising as the place was not busy.
The whole experience might lead one to expect it will fail soon unless someone there gets real.

“great Sunday lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2014

Had Sunday lunch here on a wet easter Sunday. Food was excellent as was service. Not the cheapest 'pub' Sunday lunch ever but this is more than a pub meal. Small menu excellently done. Lamb belly starter moist a full of flavor. Roast pork with crackling that my wife who hates crackling loved. Really good rare roast beef and a chocolate fondant that was suberb. Bill wasnt extortionate for 3 courses plus wine either, would definitely go again and recommend it to you.

“It's not a pub, it's a good restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2014

OK, clearly it used to be a pub, but is is a restaurant. Tucked away off the Lanes in Brighton, we were very pleased overall. The food is well-prepared using very fresh ingredients and we found the menu unusual, but successful. If you are looking for a "mugs eyeful" of food, don't go there because the portions are adequate, not mountainous. All of the staff are very pleasant, helpful and although it was almost full when we went, there was no long wait for any of the courses.
It isn't a cheap restaurant, but without doubt, it is good value food and wines. We really enjoyed the experience.
