“Happy Christmas 2012!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

My colleagues and I enjoyed an evening celebrating Christmas at the Cafe Rouge, Brighton Marina.
Most of us were pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the food.
Good selection of drinks, excellent service and good value.
I will be back for more!

“As expected and nothing more.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

We had been to other Cafe Rouge restaurants so we knew what to expect. Nothing special unless there is a new 'special' on the menu. What we had was good and no complaints except I do hate waiting staff who have just slipped out the back for a smoke and then smell of it when serving you - not nice.
It does get busy in the marina's restaurants in high season but during November we had no difficulty getting a table and service was reasonable. The food as mentioned, is always good here and we have never had cause for complaint.

In better weather the front of the restaurant opens up and outside seating is always popular.

“Not good”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

Went there after cinema and booked online.
Positives
+Very easy booking
+Loads of tables free on Friday night
+No aggravation with the Tesco Vouchers
+Confit duck

Im afraid this is it, the service was very slow, and I repeatedly had to ask for our order. We asked for bread ( a French culinary mainstay you would have thought ) and they brought up 3 small pieces between four of us.
Boullabaisse was more like minestrone soup, mussels were a little tired, and the dauphonoisse was straight out of a microwave.

Im afraid the tip reflected the very poor service.

Ive had the breakfast before at another brach and that was okay...pity I expected better

“Fast consistent food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

Have been here a few times, once for breakfast and twice for dinner. The location is great and in warmer weather you can sit outside with a view over the marina. Being a chain restaurant there are pros & cons....you get fast friendly service, good value food but the downside is the food won't blow you away and get you running back. My last meal was a really good starter of garlic mushrooms and average main course which was an unexciting dry fishcake. Good place to go if you need a quick meal and not too bothered about fine dining or looking for a quiet atmospheric restaurant. What you get is a fast food bistro!
