“Good Place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2010

Good hotel. Nice room with side sea view. Bedroom comfortable and clean towels everyday. Carpet a bit worn and stained.
Staff very nice and friendly.
Breakfast really good. I stayed with my partner who was a vegetarian and was very impressed with the pancakes she had for breakfast.
Good location on the sea front and a ten minute walk to pier and town.
Would stay there again.

Got this as a secret hotel on lastminute.com, thought it would be a safe bet as is a 3* hotel.

Was disappointed when walked into room, very dated and aged looking although bed was clean and comfortable (as you would expect from any hotel). Worst was the bathroom, very grotty and almost no toiletries provided; the shower gel that was provided smelt absolutely foul. Went down to reception to ask for some shampoo and other shower gel and was told they do not do shampoo and that was the only shower gel. Shower also dripped consistently which was very annoying.

Staff were not rude but definitely not friendly or helpful except for one nice gentleman who managed to find some shampoo and shower gel for us to use which someone had left behind.

The only way I can slightly justify the price was it was peak season, still very disappointing as it did not even include breakfast.

To sum up, definitely not worth the price and would not go back.

We stayed here the weekend if Pride, the hotel looks nice as you enter, I liked the fact there are seats out the front so could enjoy a few drinks whilst watching the world go by.

Our room was fantastic, we had a suite which had been completely refurbished, lovely sea views, large bath, power shower, flat screen tv and playstation. It was pricy however at £225 per night, would be a great honeymoon suite. But saying that even the double's were almost £200, they all put their prices up this weekend.

Other friends also stayed here and looked at 4 rooms before settling on a sea view double, the unrefurbished rooms were awful. I would make sure before you arrive that you have a refurbished room.

The reception and bar area were really nice and new, staff really helpful although they could be slow serving drinks as they were working reception and the bar! Breakfast was good too, cereals and also choice of hot food.

I would definitely stay here again, only 10 minutes walk along from the bars and restaurants on the sea front.

When i looked ath the pictures on the website I thought that this would be a good hotel to stay in for one night as a birthday present. But the website pictures are not the rooms you get!

We had 2 rooms and one was disgusting. The bathroom had not been cleaned properley and the carpet was all stained. The room was very small. I asked to move immediately which reception reluctantly did-the room was not much better, but slightly cleaner!

The one good thing was the downstairs bar and there was a lovely man serving behind the bar!

Save your money and go to a travel lodge or spend a bit more to get a much nicer room!

I was really worried reading other reviews about this hotel, but none of them matched the bad reviews. When I rang up I asked person on the phone about the reviews, and I was assured that I would be given a good room, I was in room 419, great space, amazing view, the best I have seen, bathroom was ok, but I would deffo recommend it. I think the bad reviews were before they did up the place. If your booking ask for the bigger rooms at the front with the great view, very friendly staff also!!!

I first stayed in this hotel 2 weeks ago on a hen night, and then went back 2 weeks later with my husband.
I cant see what people are complaining about! If they wanted 5* they should have booked the grand!
The first room i stayed in was small, but not bad, the room had been given a lick of paint, the bed was really comfy, but yes, the bathroom could have done with a re-furb, but there was nothing wrong with it! send stay i paid to stay in a front room, this was double the size of the first room, and again was ok, but the bathroom could have been done out! BUT everything worked!
Breakfast is really good. buffett style cereals and toast, and the a choice off the menu.
Staff are really friendly, and as we booked through the website, our check out was 12!!
Parking IS a 2 minute walk away, and cost us 12.50 for 24 hours. (regents square)
Not sure if i would take my kids, but a good hotel for couples and hen/stag nights!
I will stay again!

The web site is very very misleading, Also if your unlucky enough to pay full price.
Luckily we did not pay full price and booked late. I expected this hotel to be excellent, although we only stayed one night, I would not stay in it again. The room was tired ( even though recently painted ), but we were upgraded to sea view on top floor which was nice, also helped that we didn’t pay the extra. Toilet did not work, toilet paper was small rolls the sort you would get 30 years ago. Shower was a waste of time, breakfast below average. Car park facilities are none ( limited on 1st come !! ) , pay and display about ten minute walk ( not 2 minutes ) so if you not to good on your feet forget it as the car park has no lift & no parking at road level, charges are £12.00 for 24 hours. We did enjoy our night out but not the hotel.
