My Fiancé booked us in for 4 nights for my 21st birthday late November. For the price we paid, we weren't impressed. We stayed in a Deluxe double sea view room.
We arrived on the 27th to see the bar was being re-furbished from the 27th - 30th! That was our entire holiday!! We were given the wifi password but there was no signal the whole time we were in the hotel!
I always check around the room when I arrive, and I was disappointed to see there was no Bible. I have never been to a hotel or B&B without a bible. there were numerous stains here and there, and peeling wallpaper (They had also painted over previous wallpaper instead of scraping off first). There were feather down cushions on the bed. A lot of people are allergic, I simply hate being poked with the feathers that fall out. We put them in the wardrobe and the maid kept putting them back on so we had to leave a note.
We also noticed rather early on that when someone walks around the room or above us, the room shakes a bit. Neither of us are overweight. This got particularly annoying at about midnight, when the people above us were stamping around constantly like there were lots of children. It went on for so long we had to phone reception to ask that they are more considerate. After all I wanted to get some sleep for my birthday the next morning!
We had to go out and buy our own tea and milk as the little milk pots are WHOLE milk, and there is no decaf tea. We also wished to swap our biscuits but they didn't have any others, so we just had to throw away the horrible raisin ones we had.
There are no toiletries in the bathroom except shower gel (We have baths instead of showers) and a liquid soap that is fixed far too high up on the wall, which was only half full and watered down. I was expecting a bar of soap.
The chair with the dressing table I found quite painful. I couldn't sit in it for more than 5 minutes as the springs stuck too far out in the centre.
The windows were not double glazed. This is awful in winter, and for light sleepers. Particularly in Brighton, where there isn't enough time to fall asleep between sirens.
One of the biggest negatives for me is there are no plugs near the bed. You have to plug in your phone or laptop across the other sides of the room. The cable doesn't reach the bedside table!
I read in previous reviews they were fixing the lift. They can't have done a very good job, as it takes a couple of minutes for the doors to open by the time it's reached your floor. It's not a trustworthy piece of machinery and they should probably look into it again.
The bath, however is lovely. It is full length and it's nice to be able to re-fill the hot water without worrying about a meter. When I went to dry my hair on the other hand, there was a struggle. You have to hold down the button on the hairdryer! This is alright for some, but my hair almost reaches my backside so it takes a long time to dry my hair, and your thumb starts to ache.
Another important negative is that there is no room service. Not only no room service, there is no food served in the hotel at all!! They do a selection of about 5 sandwiches, so I went to ask whether they have cheese, and they said no! Apparently it's whatever the chef makes early morning is what they have in stock... Even a Travelodge is better in the fact that there's a menu in the room.
We had a lot of fuss with breakfast. Before our stay, my other half had it booked for all the days. However, we realised we'd most likely want to eat out some of the time, so we called to ask whether we are able to cancel on actual the day if we decide to eat out instead. The woman said she will cancel it, but make a note on our details that if we decide we would like it, that we will pay the stanart £6 for the both of us. We decided to stay in on the final day, However we were not on the list, and they were expecting us to pay £10 for a bit of toast!!
My other half paid almost (With £50 roses and £50 champagne) £500 for this hotel. We could have had somewhere closer to the pier, somewhere with a restaurant, or somewhere with wifi. We were paying this price purely for a full length bath and view of the Wreck!

I apologise that on the occasion of your stay we did not meet your expectations. The hotel is a AA three star metro hotel which is a limited service operation with no restaurant. The bar was being refurbished in sections and was still open every evening. Unfortunetately the maid would return the pillows to the bed each day unless you made a specific request. Hotel bibles are provided by the gideon society and I will be in contact with them to see if we can have this facility at the hotel. Although we could not help you with the milk situation we do have decafinated tea for breakfast and if you had asked reception they could have provided you with some tea bags. The machanics of the lift have been refurbished earlier in the year.

For many the disused West Pier is an attraction but I appreciate it is not everyones taste and unfortunately we cannot change the view from the hotel.
Once again I apoogise we did not meet your expectations.
