“Great stay, loved the room & friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2011

We stayed at this hotel on our first night of our UK trip recently, and were more than pleased with the room and service. We had a beautiful seaview, clean room and the service from the staff was fabulous. We would definitely stay again. Parking was available, it just is at a cost due to the limited parking in Brighton.

we were looking for a few days in brighton recently i read many reviews on the cheaper hotels and decided on the kings hotel even though the comments were not great it was about the best price location etc. we were slightly nervous but when we arrived we were more than happy nice bright reception very friendly staff the room was spacious comfortable and spotlessly clean breakfast was fine with many choices cooked freshly to order including smoked salmon and scrambled eggs which was delicious we liked the hotel so much we decided to ask if we could stay an extra night they were very helpful and even gave us what i can only assume was a free upgrade for our last night as the room was even nicer all in all we would certainly return to this hotel

Just read the review below mine saying this hotel was a rip off - I would agree for £145 - but then maybe that's their fault for not shopping round and getting a decent price. I paid £85 for sea view double room with breakfast and was really happy. All of the she staff we met were highly professional, very accommodating and friendly. The room was spacious and has a lovely bay window view out over the sea and a newly modernised bathroom - lovely big tub that literally filled within about 3 minutes! (mine at home is tiny and takes ages!).
Breakfast was good - although a bit stingy with the orange juice (a thimble sized glass!) - however I'd say this is probably normal hotel practice.
We had just finished the London to Brighton bike ride and the staff allowed us to take our bikes in our room with out any problems what so ever they even offered to look after them in their conference room downstairs so that was great.
All in I really enjoyed staying here.

One night in a shabby double room with no view cost £195. There was a hole in the carpet and furniture and bedding was cheap and nasty. There was no choice of juices at breakfast and the coffee tasted as if it was instant. Only 2 cereals to choose from - cornflakes or Allbran. Only allowed one dish for breakfast, my husband had the English which was OK, I opted for the Granola but would have liked an egg as well. For £195 we should have had a much wider choice.

We stayed here this weekend and to be honest I was nervous having read some of these reviews. I was pleasantly surprised!

We were greated by a young girl at checkin who was not the most helpful as we were early but she gave us great directions to a public car park.

When we did check in we were greated by a friendly male receptionist who was excellent! We stayed for x2 nights in room 420 which was large, clean and nicely decorated. Our sea view was breath taking!

Breakfast was good on both mornings; i would recommend the pancakes! Very delicious!!

At the end of our stay check out was efficient and speedy.

We had a fantastic weekend and can't wait to stay here again! Great value.

My partner and I had to book a hotel for two nights at very short notice due to maintenance issues at home. We looked at a few hotels in Brighton and found that both the Holiday Inn and Travelodge were charging around £120-£130 a night (for Wednesday and Thursday nights!) however the Kings Hotel was £158 for both nights including breakfast.
The hotel looks like it's been recently refurbished with a lovely bar area and restaurant whilst our room was very cosy and clean, comfortable bed and a small but perfectly working shower.
Breakfast was a pleasant surprise - I was expecting a simple continental however you can have as much toast and cereal as you like plus you also choose a prepared breakfast meal. The choices were excellent: cooked breakfast inc a veggie option, pancakes, fruit, granola, kippers, salmon or haddock.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Brighton for a few nights if they want a nice place and don't wish to be ripped off by the known chain hotels which seem to charge ridiculous prices due to the short notice of the booking.

The hotel has an amazing location right on the water in Brighton... but the rooms are old, run down and only have single glazed windows (so it's loud). The breakfast there was very average, as was the service. All that being said, it is a pretty good value for money... if you get a cheap room.
