“Excellent stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

We stayed at the Thistle for valentines night - the room was clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious with a lot of variety and the restaurant over looks the sea. The location is perfect - just a short walk from the Pavilion and Pier and at the end of the lanes. Excellent value for money - will be back soon!

Great location - to the front the sea and to the rear the Lanes shopping.

Despite us having a problem with one room not being booked - despite having paid for it - the staff went out of their way to ensure our weekend wasnt ruined. Prompt action with extra pull down beds in two of the rooms and complimentary breakfast made the problem seem not like a problem!

We had changed our rooms to twin beds however these beds are small doubles so extra space.

Check in and out was busy (avoid the 2pm check in) so be prepared to queue.

Rooms were comfortable and atrium area was a great space for drinks and bite to eat.

Room Tip: Ask for external view room (as some overlook the atrium ) however the rear of the hotel is quite noi...

Besides having a fantastic location on the Brighton waterfront, there really is nothing special to this hotel. The food was mediocre downstairs- not bad, but nothing to write home about. Our room the first night had a problem with a leaky air conditioner. Had the handymen in the room for two hours until they finally gave up and THEN the hotel decided to put us in another room. The view is of the water, which is nice, but when a quarter of the window is covered in bird poo... not so much. The Spa is separate from the hotel so you cannot charge to the room. On the weekends the bar connected to the hotel becomes a nightclub. It gets pretty loud.. luckily you cant really hear it from your room. I feel that this hotels rates are a little bit overpriced for what it is. If they renovated and hired a new chef, it could have the potential of being a solid 4 star hotel. The waitresses barely spoke English, which was a bit odd. On the plus side, the beds were very comfortable and room service was quick on delivery.

This is a great hotel on the seafront. Its a brilliant location and the inside of the hotel has an attractive design. The staff were friendly and the room was clean. The breakfast was lovely with great views of the sea. The swimming pool is small and had a lot of children in it, would be nice to reserve some time slots for adults only as it wasnt very relaxing. but the steamroom and sauna were lovely. Its a little pricey but worth it.

Stayed here with my partner for one night. Received it as a gift from groupon. The inside of the hotel is made to look like an outside village, with the restaurant over looking. Our room was in the inside of he hotel overlooking the restaurant, bar and reception. Would have preferred outside room.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

I've stayed here many times in recent years both on business and with family and friends. On this occasion we stayed as a birthday surprise for my wife with two friends, from a GroupOn offer. We've stayed here with our chldren (10 and 12) previously, they have good sized family rooms and the kids love the pool.

Yet again what sets the hotel apart is the friendly service (albeit a tad slow in the lobby bar) from everyone there. The front desk is always friendly, efficient and welcoming.

Location-wise it is perfect for The Lanes, seafront and shopping. The underground car park isn't cheap, but for convenience it works really well. Breakfast is outstanding, with great views of the sea. We never understand why the lobby bar isn't used more, as it's a great place to relax after a night out.

Overall I can't recommend this hotel highly enough, no matter what reason you're in Brighton for, check out their website for deals throughout the year.
