Western Road in Hove is a hotbed of North African restaurants (well there were 3 at the last count in close proximity to each other!) but Taste of Sahara stands head and shoulders above the rest.
We were seated in the main restaurant area, which is cosy and has a real Moroccan feel to it. There is a larger area at the back which seemed to be full of large parties/hen dos on the night we visited – it’s probably worth specifying which area you want to sit in, as I can imagine if you book a romantic meal and then end up being sat next to two hen parties, it might spoil your enjoyment of the place!
All our party were vegetarians, and although the vegetarian menu is not vast, everything we tried was excellent and offers some unusual vegetarian options. The Mezze Banquest (for one) is a fantastic starter to share which samples a selection of starters. The Bamia Ocra and Chakchouka as main courses were both huge and full of tasty North African spices and flavours.
We weren’t drinking alcohol on this occasion, but Taste of Sahara offers a free corkage policy which is very rare these days, and the icing on the cake to a fantastic restaurant.
