“Relaxing week in Brighton”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

The staff were very helpful and could solve any problem we had, always there for us (helped us carry our bags upstairs, lent us scales to check the weight of our luggage before leaving). The week we spent in Brighton was a relaxing one, also thanks to our stay in The Queensburry Hotel. Great location - near the beach, shopping centre and all landmarks worth seeing. We were a group of 40, parents and children, and we found the rooms very comfortable, clean, the atmosphere felt like home. Breakfast - great variety, enough food for everybody. No problems in communication, reservations, payments - great and easygoing!

Just a short walk from the west pier in Brighton into Regency Square. Its a small town town house hotel. The rooms are clean small if your fat the shower would be a no no. The breakfast ( Continental ) is very basic and very simple. Would i go again to this hotel No.

my daughter my sister and myself booked and paid for 5 nights, we stayed 3, we simply could not do the stairs another day, or face the SAME breakfast another day, we have stayed in hotels in most parts of the world as well as u/k, and i would not class this as a hotel let alone 3 star. it was a guest house and i would not give it 1 star. the only positive thing to say about our stay, the staff were very friendly and helpful. the work mens mugs on the complimentary tray left a lot to be desired cleanly wise.. no plug in the sink so had to leave the tap running while having a wash up. which every time you turn the tap on you got the smell of sewerage through the room!!. the obscure sea view was because the windows were so dirty you could not see through them. one did not open at all as it was jammed with paint, the other opened a small way but would not stay up so had to wedge it with a can of drink to get some fresh air in!!! no no no, certainly would not give it a second try.!!!! learnt a valuable lesson never pay in advance!

We stayed in Brighton for the weekend and just wanted somewhere to sleep so weren't after anything too fancy.

The hotel itself is in an old house on Regency Square, the position is lovely, and just steps off the sea front. Our room was on the third floor (and there's no lift!!!) it was nice and bright and clean, looks to have been fairly recently redecorated, and would have had a sea view if it wasn't for the scaffolding on the building next door. The shower room was compact but clean but due to the height of the room there was no water pressure, barely a trickle came out the hot water tap and the shower was weak at best.

The breakfast is a help your self affair, selection of cereals, white and brown bread to toast yourself, which was good, cheese, ham, and jams/nutella/cheese spreads etc plus tea/coffee and juice. It was perfectly adequate to start the day with and there are plenty of places to get something more substantial near by if you fancy it.

The room was quiet, couldn't hear any residents anywhere else and despite the hotel being fully booked the breakfast room wasn't full on either day.

We managed to lock ourselves out on one night too and after a short wait, managed to contact the owners who came and let us in.

Overall, id recommend it for a good central location but dont expect any frills. It served our needs fine but if a decent shower is a pre requisite then maybe ask for a lower floor room.

Came here for the weekend with a few friends. Had mixed feelings after seeing reviews however the room was lovely, clean and tidy. Service was good, was welcomed and the staff were friendly. Definitely would go there again

The location is very nice, in an old square in front of the old pier. Very central, two steps from the promenade. We had a room on the top floor. It was very small, with basic furniture and a very small shower. Only basic continental breakfast was available. For English breakfast we needed to go to another hotel nearby. We didn't try it.

Room Tip: Don't take rooms on the top floor.

Booked this last minute through laterooms.com, for a bargain price. Stayed for one night in a twin room with my sister, as I had a university interview and was travelling from Newcastle.

It was evening when we arrived, and I can't complain with the service at all. A nice blonde lady quickly checked us in and we were directed to our room downstairs. It had obviously had a recent refurb, and it was so much nicer than I was expecting! All modern, wonderfully clean and comfortable. Sure, the shared toilet is a bit of a pain, the light wasnt working and there's no hand towel to dry hands, but that was part of the fun for us!

It was nice to be given a key for the front door to come and go as you please, although worrying wondering whether any staff are actually about overnight. We went for a meal and a few drinks, then got back to the hotel about 10.30pm. The only negative follows; I was still awake at 2am. Bearing in mind I had an important interview the following day and had been travelling by bus for 8 hours from Newcastle, this was far from ideal. This is because the walls are literally PAPER THIN and so we heard the man next door and the woman he had hired having 'fun' late into the night. I know there is nothing the hotel could really do about this, but still it was very frustrating, so my tip is to bring your ear plugs with you!

Breakfast the next day, no complaints, quite basic but a good choice and constantly being replenished by the nice girl. We checked out early but were not leaving Brighton until about 5pm, and the staff had no problem at all looking after our bags all that time, which was a total life saver!

Overall a brilliant experience, thanks!
