The beach itself is very clean and pleasant, but beware, some of the venues situated along it are ready to sting you in the pocket! Located next door to the Metropole Hotel, on the right, if you are looking at the sea, on the corner of Queensbury Road/Place/Mews is a 'restaurant' that simply calls itself 'Fish and Chips'. I think this establishment, left in the not-so-capable hands of two young ladies from Eastern Europe, obtained their pricing policy from their prestigious next-door neighbour. I was charged a mind-blowing £9.45 for a small piece of haddock (at least, I ordered haddock, it may have been a sardine) and a few chips, which were overdone on the outside, and slightly undercooked in the middle. A diet coke was £1.70. After I had finished this meal, I waited over an hour (one hour, seven minutes, to be precise!) to be given my bill, whilst the two girls chatted amongst themselves. When I asked the girl for it, for the third time, she rudely informed me that "You pay at counter", then turned he back on me, and went off to do something else. When I found out how much I was charged, I needed the smelling salts! AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE! No wonder I was the only customer, and that it is not featured (yet) on Tripadvisor, so I had to put it here in the Brighton Beach section, It overlooks the beach, as it isn't featured in the restaurant section. Consider yourselves warned!
