The High Lodge has very good facilities and it's useful to have an information desk, toilets, cafe and other activities. The toilets were clean and the information desk seemed to have a lot of leaflets and there was a person there to ask. We were going to try Go Ape! which is in this forest but it was quite expensive so we decided to leave it for another time. There is also a laser military simulation place but we didn't try it, we only saw the entrance and a leaflet from the information desk.
Our main reason to go to the park was to hire a bike and try the mountain bike trails in the forest. There is a bike shop and hire centre called BikeArt which has a lot of bikes for sale, clothes and accessories. The price for hiring was very affordable too and they had many types, even for children, tandem and disabled. Unfortunately they didn't have my size in 29er and we inquired about the premium bikes but you had to book the day before. That was a shame as we were happy to pay more to try a better bike but we couldn't. The staff wasn't very friendly and the young man who gave us the bikes was quite unfriendly and made stupid remarks, he wasn't nice at all.
There are two family-friendly trails and two red trails for more experienced bikers. We tried the Lime Burner trail which used to be a black trail but it's now a red one as it isn't as hard. It was fun, specially the part called The Beast and some of the deep pits.
The main problem about this forest is the price for parking. The park is enclosed and you can't enter without taking the parking ticket. The fee is 1.90 an hour so it's quite expensive, specially if you're going for a walk or take your own bike.
I understand it needs to pay for the facilities but perhaps it's a bit too expensive.
