“Best Preserved Mediaeval Town in England”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2012

Looking for something different yet reachable from London? Then go to Lavenham in East Anglia. It is the best preserved mediaeval town in England. Marvel at homes that slant this way and that. Pray in one of the oldest churches in England which is in excellent condition. Visit the Guildhall, a first class museum. Finally have lunch or morning/afternoon tea in an old inn that has been kodernised yet retains all its olde world charm.

“Small villege with story book houses!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2012

Charming little villege with streets lined with houses that is more than 600 years old!
It was very interesting and fun to see houses with walls are not straight, roof is curby. I have never seen anything like it and find that to be very unique.
If you are near by, make effort to stop by - it is well worth it.

“Like going back in time, picture perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2010

If you are looking for a typical picture perfect chocolate box village and village square in Suffolk, then look no further. This is one of the most beautiful villages I have ever visited. We went purely because we are members of the National Trust and we wanted to visit the Guildhall. It's a lovely oldey worldey place with gorgeous timbered buildings and plenty of shops to look around. We visited the local pub; great grub, crooked house gallery; excellent local artists work and antique shop to name but a few. I believe the village square has just been used to film scenes for the new Harry Potter film so will quickly attract more visitors.

“Quiet step back 600 years”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2009

Walking the streets, easy to do as it is a tiny place, is an interesting look back to the wealth of the wool trade. Also, because of settling, sagging and bowing, many of the buildings are at odd angles now which makes them a bit quirky. The museum in the guildhall is certainly worth the time as it explains the wool industry and how Lavenham once thrived. Also, after 6 p.m., the place is very quiet and peaceful.

“Lavenham Experence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2007

Lavenham is a small town near Bury St. Edmunds in East Anglia. It is a great location for walking in the town, visiting art displays, relaxing, peaceful remembering a good life and its closeness to other towns in historical East Anglica.

It has a history that puts it close to the formation of America in the 18th Century. Many of the Englishmen came to America from East Anglica, at that time because they needed a location the would give them the freedom of their religion and style of living, which was somewhat different from what was, at that time, acceptable in England.

Today, there is the history of the 2nd World War. This saw the development of American operations near the east coast of England, for the Air Force and other military presence.

This is an interesting place to relax and have a litttle fun!
