“Great course, when campers don't use half of it.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2012

This course is advertised as 18 holes around Swanage. We have played before and it is a good mix of holes suitable for all abilities. Unfortunately half the holes were not available due to campers. The price however was not half the full price. £7.50 was 18 hole price and we were charged £5 for 9 holes with option to pay another £2.50 to re-play the 9 holes. It would have been more reasonable to charge £4 for 9 holes.

However clubs and balls are included so perhaps £5 is still reasonable value. Overall a fun time, just a shame advertising is mis-leading around the town.

“Great way to spend an afternoon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

Great for non golfers to be able to play 18 holes in a couple of hours. Cost is 7.50 per adult for 18 holes with the clubs and 2 balls provided. Would have liked more balls as we weren't that good at golf, and lost one by the third hole. It did make us more cautious though about our play. Was a great way to spend the afternoon, the course is extremely pleasant and with the railway running alongside the course, there are the trains to add to the atmosphere. Suitable for all abilities of golf.

Good for a break and for kids to challenge parents - sea views and an ice cream or drink too.

“A good couple of hours”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2012

When I lived in Swanage, I visited the Pitch and Putt many times (probably about 30 in total!) and always enjoyed it. My most recent visit was last summer (2011).

The style is very informal: no dress code, no membership and everything is provided. The owner is also very friendly and is happy to chat or share a joke before you head to the first tee. The holes themselves are of good pitch and putt range and have a decent amount of variation, including a good number of sand traps and some interesting curved fairways. The scenery around is also very pleasant (woodland and also the steam train line).

The area is quite low, however, and a stream runs through it, this means that it is sometimes a bit water-logged and, very rarely, it floods. I think this has probably only been the case twice out of my thirty-something visits.

All in all, this is an enjoyable venue for newbies, amateurs and professionals not feeling competitive. A great example of something to do with friends on a sunny afternoon, and certainly worth visiting at least one.
