“Left after 1 night !”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2014

Went with the family for Easter break. Upon arrival to the site we started unpacking car to find dog poo all round our area which we tried to clear but were put off instantly by the smell bearing in mind we had young children who would be playing. We went to to the trailer reception. And got moved to the opposite side of field next to shower block and overflowing rubbish bins. The price itself was reasonable for a couple of nights do we set up camp. The toilets were not that nice no hand dryers and one if the toilets were blocked up.

Our adjoining neighbours pulled up in their camper to complain to us that we had taken their pitch! We responded by apologising but told we were put there and agreed to all squeeze in.

There was lots of what looked like used toilet toll strewn round which we had to pick up which was unpleasant.

We decided to pack up after a night and go back home.

Just a disappointment after a 2.5 hour car journey.

We arrived on Friday the 4th of April got our keys we stayed in Rose Cottage myself my husband and two children aged 9 and 8, we booked for our 10th wedding anniversary and ended up taking the children. would we stay again 100% YES the people made us feel so welcome from JC the manager, to Simon the chef and waiter Jeff and Barman Graham. The accommodation was beautiful with the log burner, luxury bathroom, Two big double bedrooms, and the hot tub was fab the kids loved it. The Restaurant was fab the Sunday Carvery was yummy we live in London and to get home made food cooked fresh with local Produce is very rare and the prices very reasonable. JC even gave us a bottle of wine for our anniversary and Graham gave me a box of Homemade Chocolate's I didn't share these with the kids they were too good. Also to mention Olley who I think is one of the housekeepers she was so friendly the kids loved her.
We went for days out at a local Farm just 2 mins up the road, we also took the steam engine into Swanage to the beach no stones a nice sandy beach. From the warm welcome and great hospitality, thanks to you all planning our next trip beautiful surroundings luxury accommodation. thanks guys. : )

Room Tip: There is no swimming pool but the log cabins come with hot tubs rose cottage is a must.

We have just got back from a lovely weekend at herston , we stayed in a log cabin with our own hot tub and were very very pleased with the luxury of the accommodation and the peaceful location , there was so much room and it felt like home from home, the rooms were very comfy and well furnished , even Gracie our dog loved it ! The service we received from the staff was brilliant and we thoroughly enjoyed our champagne breakfast in bed which was personally delivered to our cabin! I would def recommend this to anyone wanting a romantic getaway and some peace and quiet ! We are looking forward to going back again soon with our family :)

2010 (Group in 5 Lodges); 2011 (Group in 3 Lodges); 2013 (Group in 2 Lodges) > AND we are coming again in January 2014 ~ also for 2 Lodges.
I guess we just cannot keep away.
On our last visit (this review was overdue) the Lodges as ever were comfortable and much appreciated.
This time I did get to enjoy the jacuzzi hot-tub.
Thank you to the team at Herston for your considerable efforts to provide a quality base for those who stay with you.
Our arrival was slightly earlier than the normal handover time, as planned > and both our recent Lodges were ready and immaculate. Thank you.

Room Tip: We love ASH Lodge, and that is one of the two where a dog can also stay.

Having been to various other functions at Herston and knowing that it has aIways been a very enjoyable experience I wanted to get friends and family together for my son's 21st birthday. Talk about service I had to do nothing apart from drop off the birthday banners, balloons, party poppers, cake, candles etc and even 6 bottles of bubbly that I was allowed to bring with me for the toast. Every finest detail was outstanding. The tables beautifully set with beautiful fresh flowers to decorate. Champagne flutes set out lovely with a bottle chilling in the ice bucket. They even blew up all balloons. The fire was lit and the atmosphere was very inviting. As anyone would know organising anything can be stressful but that stress was taken right out of my hands. The fun started on Sunday lunch time where 35 of us sat down to the Sunday carvery, knowing that no one would be dissapointed as we are all local and many of us occasionally do come here for sunday lunch. As usual excellent! Good choice of meats, veg, oversized yorkshire pudding and beautifully presented, choice of puddings too. Good start to the fantstic day we all had. I asked if we could bring along our own music to play on their own system, that was no problem at all but even better than that the owner laid on a singer for a few hours after lunch. I would recommend to anyone Herston campsite, especially if you are looking for a good atmosphere amazing service and flexibility from the owner and staff to meet your needs. I'd like to say a very big thank you to Ivan for all the effort and hard work you put in and to all off you hard working and very friendly staff for making my Son's day such a fabulous one he was delighted as was myself and all who came, Thankyou so so much! :-)

13 of us hired 2 log cabins for the weekend and they were perfect! Clean, spacious and well equipped throughout. The hot tubs made it!! Very warm and comfortable rooms with a great shower in the bathroom.
