Another stay at our, now beloved, Bakehouse, another remarkably relaxing and enjoyable weekend.

Management cook up a superb supper if you ask in advance and Malcolm, (Mine Host) is a serious culinary brain box.

Attracting an amazing cross section of guests, here is a proprietor who simply cannot do enough for his guests.

There is more than an air of benign eccentricity but it is that peculiarly English type which elicits a warm, comforting and somehow timeless atmosphere.

There is a discreet, charming and friendly pooch but the Management are sensitive to those who may not wish to be greeted by 30lbs of very welcoming, pedigree Labrador and Boo Boo is kept shut away, if that is what you prefer.

Superbly located in the centre of charming Sherborne, with more charm itself than a bucket of puppies, The Bakehouse will certainly suit the relaxed, easy going traveller who just wants to relax in the peace of the Dorset country.

Go on, treat yourself.

We recently stayed at The Bakehouse for 2 days and have to say that it was a very comfortable stay, with the owner Malcolm only to willing to help to make our stay as relaxing as possible.

Our very first impression as we walked in through the front door to a dark stone floored corridor with rugs in places and met Malcolm was "oh dear" but this soon changed and we are pleased to say that all of the bedrooms were of good quality and clean with modern facilities.

Our first impression had been based on looking at the web site for the bakehouse and we had mistakenly thought that the picture at the top of that site was in fact The Bakehouse.

We would certainly go back again.

We recently stayed at The Bakehouse for a two nights and found it to be truly way and above the usual B&B. The owner, Malcolm, has decorated each room with distinctive individual features (the Art Deco room is the stunner with picturesque views of the Abbey) and has all the rustic country charm you would hope for from this beautiful old bakehouse. The location is fantastic - very central to the Abbey and the town.

Malcolm is a truly welcoming host and more than happy to help make your stay as comfortable as possible, even to the point of offering his dinner to me when I had been unable to eat the food at a function we attended! Of course it helps that he is an excellent chef and the cooked breakfasts are definitely a highlight - the good thing is that he is very relaxed about when you get up so none of the usual B&B practice of breakfast only being served at a limited period of time in the morning.

The highlight of the house for us was Boo-Boo, the beautiful golden Labrador. A gentle giant who is extremely good natured and always happy to see you on your return.

Definitely a place to return to for a relaxing weekend away from it all with a fantastic host and gorgeous dog. With only five rooms it is popular so probably need to book early at times. Definitely a B&B with a true difference and a class above.
