“Very good value with friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

We went as a party of 12 and had a very good deal booking well in advance. The staff were always friendly and the food varied and good for both breakfast and evening meals. The evening entertainment might have been aimed at the coach travel party of rather elderly folk, but we enjoyed it. It is a pity that this hotel is under threat from Tesco who would like the site for a supermarket. I suspect that this is inhibiting a needed makeover as the whole place is overdue for refurbishment.

Have spent many a break in the Sherborne Hotel over the last 10 years, The last time being for a Twixmas break in December 2012. Always found the hotel clean and tidy, excellent value for money. Hope to visit again this year (as long as Tesco do not take over) Jo Lock and her Staff always very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Always a choice at meal times, never rushed to leave the dinning room in the evening. Also provide entertainment some three nights a week.

reasently I went on holiday with a party of 38 friends to this hotel andI must say what a goodtime we had. The rooms were a good size and very clean. The dining room was large and well laid out. The staff were very helpful with the service and choice of meals. We had a couple of trips around the towns nearby and there was a lot to see. All in all we had a very good week.

Room Tip: all my party had no complaints as to the locations of any of their rooms.

Now, I am not having a go at old people, not so young myself, but this hotel is really aimed at older folks on coach trips. This means that there is a lot of noise between rooms and don't expect to walk up a corridor quickly if you are rushing back to your room for that forgotten item.

As others have said, the rooms are very shabby. The whole place has not been decorated in at least 10 years, it was clean-ish but not spotless with other people's hair in the sink drain. The linens were surprisingly good and the mattresses were fine.

Breakfast is OK for mass market stuff, staff are either very sweet or very surly depending. The room cost £59 but I wish we had spent a bit extra and gone somewhere else.

We found this hotel by accident (we were lost!). We were offered a upgraded room for £79.00 or a standard double for £69.00 based on bed and breakfast, or if we wanted dinner, a special offer of £12.50 pp. We opted for the upgraded room. It was large and spacious, with everything that you could possibly want, including an iron and ironing board. The bathroom was of a good size with a bath and shower combined. For the price we paid, it was excellent and very, very clean. We opted to eat in town (approx. 20 minutes stroll) so cannot comment on dinner food. I must admit that we were not expecting much for breakfast (due to price) but was pleasantly surprised. It was self service except for tea and coffee. The quality of the food good and plenty to satisfy even with a ardent of eaters. We will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: There is a small function room, so would suggest that you check if it is being used, and if so, ask...

A large group of members of the Swan Radcot Cruiser Club stayed here for our annual winter break.

Having read the earlier reviews we were very wary of what we were about to find. Much to our surprise the hotel was lovely, very clean and comfortable. The staff were all extremely friendly and no request was too much.

The club had negotiated a really cheap price for the weekend and with this in mind the evening meals were ok. Certainly more than adequate for the price we paid.

Breakfast was a buffet with a selection of cereals, friut, yogurts, juices, toast and full english with everything being in plentiful supply.

Every evening selected drinks in the bar were half price for residents - a very pleasent surprise.

We were in room 231. Its a very quiet room and the bed was so comfortable the we overslept on the first morning! The room was cleaned daily. The towels were bath sheets which are a great improvement on the minute bath towels supplied in other hotels we've stayed in.

The hotel has a selection of jigsaws and board games for guests to use which proved to be great fun. Jenga after a few drinks is a great game! There are also some outdoor games including crazy golf and giant draughts. It is also linked to the nearby sports centre so guests can use the pool if they feel energetic.

All in all a great weekend. Many thanks to all the staff who made our stay such an enjoyable experience.

We have just returned home from a 3 night break at The Sherborne Hotel, we went as a group of people who are members of a club, the rooms were very comfortable, clean and spacious, the dining room was also clean and the food good, the service was good, staff very friendly and helpful and bar prices very cheap, the only down side was the area for the enertainment was in the dining room so you sat at the tables while the staff were trying to clear and relay for breakfast. All in all we had a great time and would not hesitate to recomend it to others as a cheap and clean place to stay.
