I must declare an interest. As Vicar of Sherborne I blessed and dedicated Tamburino Gold on its opening day. and of course the first few weeks were excellent. Tamburino Gold is an off-shoot of the excellent and atmospheric Tamburino's in Yeovil. And perhaps at first the powers that be didn't quite understand the difference between loud and lively Yeovil and the rather more restrained and conservative atmosphere of Sherborne. Why should they? But whereas a long wait for a meal in a large and lively restaurant in Yeovil is all part of the fun, at Tamburino Gold it began to get a negative reaction.
Well, as far as I can see, that's all solved. Tamburino Gold has got its head round this little Dorset market town, and I certainly enjoy entertaining guests there. Our latest visit was after a major festival at Sherborne Abbey, and we were entertaining the preacher, my Roman Catholic opposite number - a Monsignor, no less, and something of an expert on Italian cuisine. He certainly seemed to enjoy himelf, and so did all my party. Excellent wines, superb food, friendly and efficient service and all at a very reasonable price.
Blessings on all at Tamburino Gold, and all who eat there.
