“A lovely hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2012

I very much recommend this hotel. The room had every comfort one could wish for, the food was extremely good and the staff both friendly and attentive.

Had a lovely dinner and great wine here. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and seemed really popular (wasn't keen on the Taxidermy on the wall though!).
Staff are very friendly and welcoming.
Rooms are clean, comfortable and well styled. Even the shower gel etc smelt lovely. Only negatives- no stand up shower (but hot bath was great) and it got a little cold when the heating went off. But other than that a great room. The rooms are set back from the hotel so you don't get the pub noise.
I would recommend and would return if staying in the area again.

This pub is a must if you are visiting or live in dorset. I live in the area and have been there a number of times now for a drink or dinner and have enjoyed it everytime. The pub itself is warm and friendly - with lovely country prints and antiques around the place. The staff are brilliant to and always friendly even with the worst customers! the pub is always busy so even if your by yourself you feel like you aren't. the food is outstanding - homemade bread, amazing local meats and good portion sizes. If the pork belly is on the menu or ginny fowl and chicken pie - have them!!

It is a proper dorset pub that we have desperately needed for a while!!

While touring the challenging Dorset hills on our tandem, and with dusk approaching we were directed by a 'local' to this luxurious and invigorating Inn. We were pampered, wined and dined superbly by staff and facilities alike. The Arran Aromatics toiletries soaked and revitalised our weary limbs while the bedside iPod system played our favourite music. Bliss! The quality of the cuisine perfectly complemented that of the accommodation. We couldn't justify the expense every touring night
, but will certainly recommend and return.

My Brother booked this for a family lunch, which we all take turns to find somewhere different for a lunch and get together 6/7 times a year.
He nomally does well on choice, but what a let down this time.
We turned up early Feb, so it was cold and sat down at 12.45pm, the bar was warm but dining room cold!!
They had both a log burner and open fire ready to be lit, but no,let the guests suffer.
It was only when you past through the bar to go to the toilets that the top restaurant was pleasantly warm and busy, I wonder why??
The food was nothing special and the waiting staff were a bit to casual with their dress and appearence and unshaved- the male one.
If going to this pub, keep warm or ask for a table close to the toilets.

Booked as a last minute break for us and our 2 young kids (5 and 6). S St N is a picture-postcard village with lovely walks on the doorstep- and close to the beach too. And the Greyhound is a real gem- the managers are really friendly and great hosts, lovely to our kids as well as us. The room was lovely, light and airy and very comfortable. It was nice to have a decent telly and DVD player for the kids, plus free WIFI. The food is the real highlight for me- everything we ate including breakfast was really lovely. Hope to come back soon!

Room Tip: we stayed in room F with a double and 2 z-beds- we thought there was plenty of room for this.

We had two nights at the Greyhound....nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff.
Food was delicious, room just right with an extra heater supplied to fend off wintery weather.
Wonderful village location with lots of things to see......birds, fish and even a giant's privates!
We are a difficult couple....I am disabled with MS, my wife with gluten intolerance and arthritis.
Staff catered brilliantly and effortlessly .....
No problem with wheelchair access either.
We'll be back if they'll have us!
