I don't usually complete these online reviews as, if happy with a hotel I say so and offer my appreciation as I leave or if it has been a poor experience I deal with it at the time or simply will not return or recommend it.
However, I simply do not understand some of the criticisms that appear from former guests at the Croham. My last visit was my 5th and there will be more. The refurb is ongoing but they are getting there and the results are obvious. Those that say beds, curtains etc are inadequate must have been unlucky as this has never been my experience. To the people who had complaints about their dog then I can only assume the level of supervision was inedeqate as I have never received complaints about mine. The staff are unfailingly polite and helpful. A parking charge... so what! It's cheaper and safer than the public alternatives. Breakfast is great. All that annoys me are the ingrates who arrive 10 minutes after closure of the restaurant demanding food and becoming shirty.
The Croham is not The Ritz but it doesn't pretend to be. If that's what you want then go somewhere where you can add a zero to the room rate, apply it per person rather than per room, and then you will be in a position to moan about being a tea bag short or that you heard a door bang at two minutes past midnight. This couple, and Max the dog, will be back and would recommend it has no nonsense, no frills, value for money holiday or business accomodation.
