“Location great. Restaurant excellent”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

Having stayed at this hotel before we knew what to expect. The location is great and the restaurant food at lunchtime and evening is superb. Staff pleasant and efficient and I think the restaurant manager has been there forever, which is always a good sign. I agree with previous reviews about the noise from the park at night and would always ask for a room facing the car park if you like a good nights sleep.
Good choice for breakfast but were disappointed. We chose Eggs Florentine. This was listed as being on toasted muffins. Only trouble was they weren't! We did mention this to the waitress who apologized prior to taking our plates and scraping them into the bin. It was all rather rushed as we weren't given time to look at the menu at all before being asked what we wanted and I also noticed full breakfasts being brought to tables when people were still eating their cereal. A shame really but we will still go back again next year.
Go for the moules mariniers. Delicious

Room Tip: Go for the top floor facing car park

Thank you for your feedback. Your remarks regarding breakfast are interesting. Muffins are ALWAYS available so I wonder whether you are suggesting that they weren't toasted, which would be surprising, but I apologise if that was the case.
There should be no need to rush a breakfast and I will speak to staff regarding pressurising guests to finish starters. It would appear to be inexpereince on the part of young staff. I will follow this matter up.
We continually look to improve our service and comments such as yours are very helpful.

We were at the Lampeter for 3 nights. It was convenient to shopping, the beach, the park, etc. There was some noise at night as people talked loudly to each other as they wandered across the parking lot area even though we were not on the park side of the hotel. We specifically chose not to be on the park side because of the noisy activities even late at night. The park is a hive of activity and actually quite nice. There were concerts going on, etc.

The rooms are not large but seemed clean and were comfortable. They included a very nice breakfast each morning.

Room Tip: Rooms on the parking lot side are quieter than the park side because of the activities in the public...

We stayed for 2 nights. Room not the biggest but very clean and comfortable bed. We eat in the restaurant very good food., staff very good.
Very good choice from breakfast menu. You could eat out side on the terrace if you wanted to
which was lovely, overlooking the gardens.
Very good location. Car park gets very busy.

Would stay again.

Thank you for your comments. The car park does get very busy and we cannot always guarantee a parking space, but we do our best, with the cooperation of guests.

We stayed here for 3 nights recently. Great hotel, superb positioning for central Bournemouth with park access immediately next to the crazy golf. The Bistro restaurant is great, strong menu, happy staff, super fresh cooked food. Our double room was a little small (102) but the girls twin was great. Similar comments re other guests re park view rooms, very noisy on Saturday night with partying still going at 4.00 a.m, appreciate there is nothing the hotel can do but light sleepers/young kids likely to benefit from front facing room (outside of beer delivery hours!!). Overall we enjoyed and thus the 4 stars, most of the 'downsides' are due to outside forces and its not fair to penalise the hotel for that, but is fair to share.

Thank you for your comments. glad you enjoyed your stay. As the Lampeter Hotel is an old building, rooms do vary in size. You are correct that summer evenings can be noisy when a bedroom overlooks the Lower Gardens, but it is not always a problem and many returning guests request those rooms.

Just come back from a 2 night stay at this hotel. Went with my elderly Mother in law and hotel was fairly suitable. We could get down into the Lower Gardens via a sloping path, so wheelchair friendly, and although dining room for meals was downstairs there was a lift very close to our bedroom to get us there.
Breakfast very good choice and portion sizes. Ate evening meal here too and good quality food and wine/drinks a fair price. Roger, the manager was very kind and worked hard to keep restaurant up to scratch.
Our room overlooked the Lower Gardens, and as previous reviewers had said can be noisy at night. I never sleep well first night in a strange bed, so heard alot of young people talking/cheering till around 2am! But next night I slept and was not aware of noise. We were treated to hearing the bands playing in the Gardens and could see Bandstand from our room.
All in all a good place to stay and would return.

Room Tip: If you don't mind noise from Gardens then a room at back is lovely.

The hotel has a great location over looking the gardens. Our room was a double room which over looked these gardens. The room was claes and comfortable. The bathroom was small and a little dated, the shower curtain was hanging off the rail. The room was lovely during the day but very noisy during the night due to very large groups of students drinking, shouting and screaming on the park until 3.30am -4am. This ,of course, has nothing to do with the hotel.
Breakfast was included in the price and was adequate, although my husband had the full English and the sausage wasn't fully cooked.
We enjoyed sitting on the terrace in the evening with a cocktail.
The staff are all very cheerfull and pleasant.
We would stay again.

Room Tip: We were in room 106, a nice room with a brilliant view of the gardens, balloon, bandstand etc. Noise...

Thank you for your positive feedback.
We do have an ideal town centre location, but there are drawbacks when the weather is hot and everyone sleeps with the windows open.
We do have an ongoing dialogue with the local councillor regarding groups of generally good humoured young people sitting around in the gardens until late in the night.
There is an ongoing programme of room upgrades.
