Last year i did my work experience at The TraleeHotel and i loved and would certainly go back. The things i liked were that the staff were all so freindly and welcoming. The hotel is located in a great place becuase it is very near the town and the sea front, and many of the hotel rooms have fabulous views.
When i left i was sad to go and i would definitely recommend it to every customer group.

My husband and I stayed there last week, we enjoyed our staying, the hotel was clean and very quiet, very near the beach and the centre of town where we had our meals. We had a very nice breakfast in a little cosy room. And we also parked our car for free. (in London they require £ 16 for 24 hours!!!)

The good points:

Ground floor has had some money spent on it. The evening meal and breakfast were both well cooked and tasty. Staff, although speaking very little English were pleasant and polite.

The bad points:

The day I arrived there was no hot water. Had to have a cold shower. Other guests were also complaining of the same. Next morning, there was hot water from the wash basin tap, but the hot water from the shower was no more than a drip. If you tried adding some cold to get a tepid temperature with a bit of pressure, you were out of luck, it was still cold with a hot drip not mixed in. Second cold shower!
The cooridors are tatty, the carpets are threadbear and tatty. The paint on my room's door was chipped and looked like the room had been forced at some point. No 'do not disturb sign'.

Water in the bathroom is signed 'not drinking water'. There is no bottled water supplied, so how do you brush your teeth?

The average:

twin room, two single beds. Reasonably comfortable. Bedroom furniture was fairly modern and in good state of repairs. Bathroom had been recently tiled and hilst rough around the edges, was ok. Every where was clean.

In summary, not a place I would stay at, or recommend. Too old, not enough money spent on it. Must be better places.

Upon arriving at the Tralee, we were impressed by the modern (but cheap) looking reception area. It's true what other reviewers have said about this hotel, they seem to have spent a bit of money on the ground floor, but don't be fooled. The rest of the hotel is very poor for a 3*. The carpets don't look as if they've either been replaced or hoovered in months. On the stairwell, grey tape tries to patch it together where it has worn. There are about 4 different patterns of carpet throughout which look like donations from other places. The rooms are basic (very basic). The chair & table in our room fell apart & was not replaced at all. Breakfast was possibly the worst I have encountered. The excuse for a full english/continental buffet breakfast was a few cereals & juice, nothing more. The full english was basic to say the least. The management we saw were uninterested & didn't seem to have a clue, the rest of the staff tried their best but it was obvious that they were embarrassed by the condition of the hotel. Overall not a pleasant experience & one I wouldn't wish to repeat. No leisure club facilities by the way, you have to go to another hotel which is down a hill. If you have children, take them to a hotel which advertises a pool as this one doesn't. DON'T STAY HERE!!!!!

I had booked this hotel only as our usual hotel was fully booked for that weekend and this one was very close by so i knew it would be easy to find.

On arrival and departure, i found the staff very unfriendly and unhelpful and it had a bit of a clinical feel to the place. We did have a large room but the bed was so hard and the matress so thin that i actually spent part of the night on the sofa which was much softer!

The only redeeming facter was the gorgeous breakfast in the morning. On the whole though, i wouldn't ever want to return again.
