“Perfect Family Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2012 via mobile

I booked a room for my family and I for a couple of nights and we couldn't of had a better time!
We were allocated a lovely room with beautiful sea views and balcony, and very spacious for the 5 of us.
The room was very clean with tea/ coffee making facilities- even hot chocolate which the children loved!
The breakfast was excellent, buffet style and so much variety!
Lovely food when we ordered room service too... Good choice of options on the childrens menu.
All staff were very welcoming and friendly throughout our stay.
The only thing that could of been better was the weather!
Will definitely be returning soon!

I would mark this hotel somewhere between average and very good - probably just good! I got it for a good rate at the last minute as a single traveller and was pleased they actually had some single rooms, so didn't have to pay for a double, although of course downside was that room was very small. However, perfectly equipped and nice bathroom, so was quite happy. They were refurbishing the wing I was in, so carpets were covered in polythene and there was a smell of paint in the air but my room had already been done and there were no smells in there, so apart from walking to and from room, it didn't impact on me. Having stayed at the Carlton next door, I found this one to be like a little sister! Very similar but smaller. I had a bed, breakfast and dinner rate so ate in restaurant and wasn't expecting much but to my surprise the food was very good. Not many diners in there but staff were very attentive and food tasted good and was well presented. This made the rate very good value and I would certainly stay again on a similar deal. The location is good, it has an outdoor swimming pool which was very pleasant on the sunny afternoon I arrived. A wedding in the hotel monopolised the downstairs area on Saturday night but as I was busy olympic watching in my room I didn't mind, however if I had been with my partner I think I would have found it a bit irritating. Hard for the hotel to do much about this as they are dependent on wedding guests behaving appropriately (some weren't!). I was in wing at the back, so wasn't bothered by noise from disco or road. Staff were all pleasant. Will be interested to see what hotel is like when they are finished refurbishment - judging by quality of my room it should be good. One point for manager, although windows had been painted inside, I noticed when I opened sash that the reverse side was still unpainted and rotting! It seemed like a superficial way to paint a window and won't stop them rotting in their frames but perhaps they will do that another time?

Just arrived back from a 2 night stay with family children ages 14 and 10. Had a family room which fitted us all comfortably.

The hotel staff were very helpful and nothing was to much trouble for them.

The hotel had an outside swimming pool but you could use the facilities next door at sister hotel which also had an outside swimming pool and indoor pool too. The hotel supplied pool towels which is a great bonus.

The breakfast was brilliant and I could not fault this hotel as it was clean the staff very friendly and helpful and the location was great. Would defiantly be returning to this hotel again.

Also I must mention IIona on reception who was friendly happy and helpful. Cant wait to return!!

Room Tip: Our family room did not have a balcony - but it did have a side sea view.

Booked this hotel for a weekend away, and been very happy to find hotel with sea view in good price. When we arrived had really good impresion of hotel, views arround, looby. Big restaurant and bar open in the evening, but when we get to our room been bit disapointed. Would expect that there will be something diferent and we fund our room very small, that two people cant pas each other, wether bathroom size was just way to big. My suggestion take some square meters from bathrom and ad to a room!!!
Other than that in your room you have everything what you need. There is a big tv with free view channels, kettel for tea of coffee, in a wardrobe i found iron and hair dryer, so been pleased to see all that especialy that wethever you go you need to ask for those little things.
We all so had breakfast included wich was standard buffet english breakfast with some choices of yogurts and jucies.

Over all i would recomend this hotel to those who are going for a short breaks you get a dicen deal for what you pay.

Stayed here for one night lovely location but having checked into our room we found that there were no beds for the children, having asked reception they said we were given the wrong room, there was a knock on the door and a couple from a different room came to tell us they had our room which should have been done by the staff as we did not have their room. Our room was large and very clean although only had enough cups for 3 and there was 4 of us, nice to see sweets out for the children, nice extra touch. Not happy that there were no changing facilities for the pool and don't understand why they would want people walking through the hotel in swimwear wet or dry. Pool was really cold and the children would not use it let alone us. Twice asked for information on sister hotel and had to go find out ourselves. At a 165 pound a night felt this was too much for such limited facilities.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have wonderful sea views.

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review on trip advisor, I was sorry to read that you were allocated the wrong room upon arrival, It is hard to determine which room you stayed in but it appears that you were allocated a family room but the beds for your children were not made up for you upon arrival, which reception then rectified, please accept my apologies for this, and also for not having enough cups in the room. Referring to the leisure facilities and outdoor pool, all guests should be given an information sheet which summarises both the outdoor pools available, the facilities at the Carlton and that bathrobes are provided in your room to wear to and from the pool area. This has been the standard in recent years .The temperature of the pool generally is around 28 degrees but when it rains as it has done in recent weeks it does take time to reach optimum temperature.

Many thanks for taking the time to place the review

We have been staying at this hotel for many New Year Eve packages. The beauty of it is that you can use the sister hotel 's indoor pool etc The location is great and the staff always freindly and the service is good. The food has always been super. The public spaces and rooms are confortable and well presented. If you're stuck on what to do for the New Year and like dinner by candle light with some light entetainment and a gala dinner on New Years Eve with a live group or disco try it. We're going back for New Year 2012

Lovely friendly hotel. Very attentive staff. Good value for money for dinner and a lovely breakfast each day. The hotel is going through some refurbishment and needs a little TLC. Pool was cold but we had it all to ourselves, luckily we had great weather too!

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room when booking they are lovely.
