“If you Like Skid Marks in your Toilet and a rude man on reception then stay here!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

Upon arrival at the Hotel all looked well. Tired but ok.

After a rude little man very quicky wanted a £50 damage deposit before any further discussions we then got our room key.

After shoe horning myself up the stairs and in the room door i noticed the carpet was dirty, A bar of soap in the wardrobe, Primark Cloth Stickers on the door and Skid Marks in the toilet!
The bed was no better with some very suspect looking stains on the duvet and a mattress that a homeless person would turn away.

Luckily we were in town for a night out so the alcohol helped the room more bearable!

Upon check out the rude little man was thinking of any excuse to keep deposits and attempted to keep a friend of mine's deposit for putting a glass bottle in the bin!

All in if you were to leave a tip it would be 'Fire the Cleaner!'

Wont be staying here again and hope you get a nice visit from a hotel inspector soon!

The first view of the hotel looked as you would expect very clean. The room was basic but livable, the towels on the bed had a soap stain where it had been damp, the floor boards were creaky but the carpet was very clean. Our first night staying at the hotel was not at all good as the fire alarm went off at 12 o'clock in the morning we were all oblivious to what it was as there was no-one around telling us what was going on. Fair enough in the morning when we asked the reception staff what was going on we were informed of the fault in the alarm. However the next night the same thing happened again not the best experience. The breakfast was plain and simple but edible as you would expect.

This was a Turkey & Tinsel 5 day break for senior people. I am not quite there yet! Still, I went with an elderly friend and really, the rooms were spacious and clean and lovely and warm; clean towels were changed daily. The staff were always very friendly and attentive; the meals were adequate and well cooked. My friend had a problem with so many stairs and more ramps could be installed to aid this. The lift broke down on one occasion but was fixed quickly, though rather slow at other times. I am not going to complain that the Hot/Cold shower taps were mixed up or, that the wardrobe would not open far enough, because the bed was blocking it or, that the television scart lead was faulty: It was sorted pronto! Remember, you have to deposit £10 for the remote, which is returned on leaving which is fair. Management did their best under the financial constraints thrust upon them and, I empathize with that. Entertainment was laid on every night, and the bar drinks were reasonable. All in all, a very pleasant stay considering what was paid overall and, I would certainly not be averse to staying at the hotel a second time.

Room Tip: First Floor rear rooms are quiet and have the best LCD televisions installed

The appearance of the hotel is somewhat offputting and at reception there were numerous notices of Do's and Dont's which smacked of the old time dragon landladies. This gave completely the wrong appearance, because the Owners and Staff could not be more friendly, helpful and accommodating. Best of all was the position. It was and easy walk to the front and pier, and even easier to the centre of the town. Although obviously a budget style hotel, the food was good and the cleanliness at an acceptable level. Any reported faults were dealt with immediately. There was a fair sized concert hall with evening entertainment, although not to the highest of standards. Our stay was pleasant and I would have no hesitation in using this hotel again.

Me and 12 others stayed at the manchester as part of my stag do package. When we read some of the reviews from others on here we was unsure what to expect when we checked in. Lots of bad reviews and criticism About the staff. Our first impressions was it was a bit dated but clean and tidy. The rooms are again dated but the beds and rooms were spotless! The staff are brilliant, when we got back from being out on the town, Eddie kept the bar open till 6am for us, and the bar prices are very cheap!! Couldn't quite stomach breakfast myself but the others said it was ok!

Overall this is a perfect hotel for stag/hen weekends. It's a clean, tidy hotel and fantastic value for the price of the rooms! Staying here really made the weekend!

Cheers to Eddie and all the staff!!

A group of 10 of us frequented this hotel for the weekend - first impressions were it was exactly what i expected as check run down large b&b. Parking was ok, managed to fit all cars on the dedicated spaces. Check in was painless and quick. The £200 deposit is understandable for a large party to cover any breakages and they do tell you this before you book the hotel. You do have to pay a deposit for the tv remote, but really how hard is it to walk 5 feet and change the tv manually! The rooms are again very shabby as is most of the hotel interior. The whole hotel looks like it has been decorated using 2nd hand items from the 1970's & 80's. The beds were very poor and obviously very cheap - but having said that it was basically clean. The shower room was about 3ft wide and 5 ft long - with no windows but when you are paying these prices you should be grateful for an en-suite! The ladies in the bar area were very friendly and helpful, as were the staff at breakfast - i always find if you treat staff with respect they will become increasingly more helpful and make your stay even more pleasant.
This is not the place to come if you are looking for luxury so dont expect it, however if you are looking for a cheap and relitively cheerful place for a weekend away with the lads then look no further.

Room Tip: Any room away from the road to avoid the rowdy night time scuffles
