“Fantastic 3 nights”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Just returned from a 3-night mid-week stay. Excellent value, facilities and service. Most impressed by the receptionist who made us feel welcome, gave us access to our room earlier than expected and then phoned our room to check everything was ok. We have 2 year old twin boys. Restaurant staff made them very welcome at breakfast and dinner. Our room was a good size, quiet and clean. Really appreciated the free wifi. Parking spaces were available throughout our stay. And best of all, 10 min walk to the amazing beach.

Stayed for one night attending concert in town. Location excellent for beach and town and excellent free parking. Lovely greeting on arrival in smart reception. All ground floor very attractively furnished. We were in the annexe called The Lodge. Disappointed by scuffed front door and grubby carpets but the heat was the worst aspect - no air con made it stifling, particularly on the third floor where my friend's tiny room was. Fans in rooms are ok but not efficient enough to cope with heat. Our room was ok but friend on third floor was in inferior room which was poorly furnished with drip stains all down front of chest of drawers - not good enough Connaught! Pokey bathroom with weak shower. Cleanliness ok. Don't spend all your cash downstairs and neglect the rest of the place. Walls marked and generally shabby. Had lovely sandwiches in late night bar - staff v friendly and couteous. Breakfast was great sat outside in courtyard very nice. Overall it was ok but could have been much nicer. Not bad for overnight stay but wouldn't want any longer there without air conditioning!

Delighted to read that at least you enjoyed your stay with us Gokuk. As you probably noticed the entire hotel has been undergoing a programme of refurbishment and we are nearing the end. If you ask your friend to contact me I would be delighted to discuss his stay.

Best wishes

DO NOT SEARCH ANY FURTHER... This hotel oozes first class service, coupled with the best food you could ever want. We stayed here, and from the first moment of booking, there was a total care attitude by the hotel towards us, emails to ask if we needed them to order a meal, or book a show for us... We had a sumptuous well ventilated room, with a large en-suite. The restaurant: "Blakes' was fabulous, a really well planned evening menu with many choices to suit the most fuzzy palate. The food was well cooked, flavoursome and tasty . the top London hotels would find it difficult to compete... The staff were delightful and very helpful. The hotel had an outside seating area which was really well maintained and comfortable. The facilities, including the pool were superb...I want to go back..well done..keep it up. 10 mins from the beach, good parking.

Room Tip: just phone, or fill out the comments section and explain. The hotel were very helpful.

We stayed for one night in the Connaught Lodge, in a suite room with our lively 21 month old. Having the separate lounge was great for the evening, so we didn't disturb our daughter's sleep with TV noise. The room was spotless and in good overall condition. The reception and bar area were very smart. The breakfast selection was better than I've seen in many other establishments with more stars. If you are looking for a value for money room, give this hotel a go. We'll certainly be returning.

Stayed in the lodge for four nights during the recent July 2013 heat wave. Everywhere in the Hotel was hot, we were on the top floor of the Lodge, although it was hot, with the fan running and the window open we managed to get 4 decent nights sleep. The room has been recently refurbished, very clean and everything worked.
This Hotel has the friendliest staff I have ever come across; everyone was truly friendly and attentive.
The Breakfast was excellent, however the toaster needed two passes to get a decent degree of brownness on the bread, but you met some lovely people in the queue.
The food served in Blake’s and the Bar was excellent, however some starters were served on tiles and some mains on wooden boards, if you prefer plates just ask!, the service was absolutely excellent.
The draught beers from the Bar were the usual keg type beers, but they had a couple of local chilled bottled beers that were excellent.
Car Parking in Bournemouth is not good anywhere, all hotels have tightly packed spaces, this Hotel is the same, however we managed to get a space each night without much trouble and the parking is free.
This has to be one of the best Hotels I have stayed at in the UK. Will definitely go back!!

Room Tip: If the room is hot get the fan out,and the window open asap. then get down to the Bar for a cool dri...

Stayed in the Lodge (as it's a little cheaper than main hotel and is next door) and got a special deal as it was 3 nights. Rooms weren't particularly special but were clean and the bed was a good quality. I made use of the gym and spa every day which had a decent size pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. The jacuzzi only had one really good jet but it was nice and relaxing and all included in the price which was great.

We ate in the award winning Blakes restaurant one night, the quality of food was good but the wait was quite long (although we hadn't booked so maybe to be expected) and there are cheaper places to eat outside the town centre. Much better value and great restaurant and bar at the 1812 by the Royal Exeter Hotel on the Exeter Road where we had a lovely 3 course menu for just £12 (only offered Mon-Wed).

The Connaught is in an ideal spot for easy access to the town centre and beach, and even my 84 year old mum coped with the walking (albeit very slowly) to everywhere. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and would certainly recommend this hotel

Thank you for your "lovely" review IngGodalming and delighted you took full advantage of and enjoyed the spa facilities which are very popular. Blakes is out fine dining, double rosette restaurant and everything is freshly prepared and cooked which can take a time however the Connaught Brasserie is more in line with the 1812 restaurant and perhaps worth a visit next time you visit us.

Best wishes and thank you again.

My 8 companions & me had booked into the Connaught for 3 nights as we were in Bournemouth for a Jehovah's Witness convention. As soon as we arrived we were made to feel at home & comfortable & this continued throughout our stay. The rooms were very comfortable & the facilities including the restaurants & the wonderful relaxing spa with pool, jacuzzi, sauna & steam room & the gym were fabulous. Spa tratments were available but we didn't have time to sample these. Everywhere within the hotel is spotlessly clean & tidy & the very short walk from the lodge to the main hotel was of no problem whatsoever. By far the outstanding feature of this hotel is it's customer service, friendly& helpful staff where nothing is too much trouble. Very early on in our stay it was obvious that there were quite a few JWs staying at the hotel & that we all needed an early start as the doors of the BIC were opening at 8am at the latest. This meant that as weekend breakfast is scheduled for 8am we would not have time to eat. When the restaurant manager heard about this he immediatley made plans for the full breakfast to be served at 7am on these days. We are so grateful to him & to the chef who was commissioned to cook earlier & to the restaurant staff who also served us. There is no doubt at all that my friends & I will be returning to this lovely hotel for the convention next year. I thoroughly recommend the Connaught Hotel to everyone who wishes to visit Bournemouth.

Room Tip: The bathroom that I had was extremely small & I think a larger person would have had trouble ...
