“Fantastic food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

We stopped off here whilst shopping in Westbourne and really felt like we had found a gem. The food on the menu is innovative and interesting and all freshly cooked. We couldn't decide what to have and the waiter was extremely helpful in explaining what dishes were like to help us choose. It was great to see someone who knew the menu and explain it with enthusiasm too. We chose lamburgers - when they came they were so suucculent and tasty, the wedge chips were crispy and fantastic and the salad so tasty. The lady on the table net to us had a siphon coffee - when the waiter delivered it after it had brewed for 4 mins through a siphon, he explained the flavour of the coffee and later came back to ask the lady what she thought. It really felt like the staff cared about what they were doing. As we left, the staff were making cocktails for someone - they looked and sounded so innovative. We will definitely return, not only for lunch but also in the evening for a few drinks and to listen to the regular live music they also have. A fantastic find all round.

“Informed & passionate staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012 via mobile

Came here with a group of people for a friend's birthday & was most impressed. The head chef really knows his stuff. Every dish was presented beautifully & full of flavour, with a modern take on classic recipes.
The waiting staff are very knowledgable of the menu & the wine list, and the bar staff also really know their stuff. It's great to see such passion in a young team.
My only criticism, and not really a criticism, would be the profiteroles with sweet caramelised bacon.. A little too salty for a dessert. Maybe a salted caramel would work better?
Lovely bistro style restaurant, great atmosphere, highly recommended.

“We probably went on a bad night, poor service.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2012

After reading some of the more positive reports on trip advidor, we gave it a try, sadly we were most dissapointed. The staff seemed overworked & to be honest dressed rather scruffy & not the happy team you would expect from a Bistro style bar which seems to serve tapas style food on the night we went. 2 glasses of average Rose wine was as much as a bottle in other similar places. We decided not to eat there after seeing the tiny portions leaving the kitchen, it was obvious some of the customers were also expecting bigger portions by the murmuring. Perhaps we went on a bad night, it happens & it was quite busy, however the tables full of empty glasses & food plates not being cleared away always worries me about who is in charge & do they care as long as the tills are ringing. There is a shortage of good decent wine bar style bistros in the area so they seem to have got the format correct but forget that good food & value is also vital for return business, we will not be going back so sadly the point is proven.

Hi there, thanks for taking the time to post a review about EAUdeVIE, it's a shame that you didn't enjoy your visit and we're hoping you'll join us again soon on a normal evening to sample the great product we offer.

The night in question was our 'Spanish Wine & Tapas' event. It's something we'd been advertising for a couple of months previously and was a pre-paid event. For £25 each customer received a platter of Spanish cheese and ham, three additional courses - each with two dishes, a pudding and two different wine matchings with each course. There was also two guests speakers and a live Spanish guitarist - universally thought as great value by everyone that attended.

The nature of tapas means that each dish is indeed a small portion and the concept of each course meant there had to be more glasses and crockery on each table than normal - everything was obviously cleared between courses though.

I don't recall staff being overworked, yes we all had to concentrate &work hard to serve a full house at the same time but we weren't stretched.

As a relaxed, quirky venue, we try to remain approachable to everybody, staff are encouraged to show their personality through their appearance, attitude and unique drinks/food recipes. This often means staff wear shorts, waistcoats, t-shirts, trainers, shoes etc so we don't have a uniform as such. This is something we've received a lot of praise for, our patrons recognise our knowledge & creativity rather than the clothes we choose to wear, nobody has ever suggested any of the staff are scruffy.

Everybody had a really great time that evening, this review has hit the entire team hard who work tirelessly to offer something different than the mainstream in our local market. It's a real shame you didn't get to experience the entirety of the night and have consequently unfairly reviewed us.

Trip Advisor is a great tool for businesses and consumer alike, unfortunately situations like this highlight it's obvious faults. We are a small, independent business, incorrect reviews are potentially damaging - TRIP ADVISOR, GIVE US A CHANCE TO RESPOND BEFORE POSTING DAMAGING REVIEWS!

Sandbanks663 contact me at any time, I would love the oppertunity to win you as a customer, you obviously take your reviews seriously which is great, more people should do so! The whole team would like you to submit a more informed review on us.
