“Good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2014

Very pleased with the Elstead. Although the hotel is a bit dated and could do with a "makeover", it was very clean, the rooms were a good size and the staff very helpful. On site parking and a fitness suite with a small pool are good extras. We visited in Jan 2014 and got a very good price for B&B. Breakfast was good and had veggie options.

Would go there again.

Room Tip: not sure. I would think all the rooms are pretty similar. We were on the first floor west facing and...

Am writing this while still staying at the Elstead Hotel. I have been staying here for five nights a week and in total will have been here five weeks. The staff are fantastic, helpful, pleasant and really attentive. I love the fact that the manager of the hotel makes the effort to know all his guests and is always leading his team be it in the bar serving, reception or at breakfast. Barbara in the bar has been a godsend and always makes sure that I am well fed and watered. The night porter is fab nothing seems too much trouble for them. The pool and jacuzzi have been well used by me and it is great after a long day to have the freedom to pop down there and there is even a gym. Food is great and you will never go hungry. There seem to be a few of us who are staying over a longer period of time which speaks volumes for the staff and facilities. Highly recommend to anyone coming down to bournmouth be it for a weekend or longer stay. Definitely will be coming back

Booked a twin room at the last minute at a very good price. The sevice excellent ,staff were all very helpful and friendly.Great choice breakfast of sausages bacon bean mushrooms hash browns etc or cereals fresh fruit/fruit juice yogurt and toast or if prefered poached eggs, kippers or haddock. The room was on the second floor over looking the front of hotel, car parking and a very pretty tree lined road and within walking distance of Bournemouth centre. The room was nicely decorated very spacious spotlessly clean and warm with tv, hair dryer, tea making facilities and a lovely comfy sofa. The only downside was the poor pressure of the shower but did not in any way spoil are stay which was very enjoyable. We will certainly return ,Why this hotel is only a 3 star rating as it deserves higher .

We have stayed in quite a few of the hotels in Bournemouth and I have to say that the Elstead is the nicest one yet. Our room was a nice size with a large on suite both nicely decorated. The bed was very confortable and the room very quite and so we enjoyed good nights sleep.
Breakfast was plenty adequate and we ate three evening there, once in the restaurant and twice in bar, We preferred the bar menu for choice price and portions.
Would recommend as long as you don't mind a bit of a longer walk into town than a lot of the other hotels although it is on the bus route if tbe weather turns wet.

I returned today from spending a night at the Elstead hotel. I had to attend a last minute business meeting nearby very early this morning, so I called the hotel yesterday and luckily they had a room spare. I didn't arrive until around 7pm last night but there was plenty of room in the car park.. The room was lovely and very spacious. It was a little chilly but I had read other reviews mentioning that so I had taken PJs to lounge around in. However, it is January so I expected the room to be cooler and there was an extra blanket in the wardrobe should I have needed it which I didn't.
I had dinner in the bar, the food was good and the food and drinks were very good value. The breakfast this morning was fresh, varied, tasty and plentiful. The hotel staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful and I hope that, should I need to return, they can fit me in again.

Room Tip: I was in room 105 which is on the front. I didn't find it noisy overnight.

I have stayed at the Elstead hotel three times and had a nice stay each time. The hotel is no more than 10 mins walk to the seafront and is in a great location for walking home from town after visiting a few pubs. The hotel is very reasonably priced and serves lovely buffet breakfasts. The pool is one of the nicer hotel pools I have used and the gym facilities are also good.

Parking can be tricky as spaces are a little limited and on street parking can cost due to location but I always managed to find somewhere to park on site overnight.

The only downside was the rather loud party on my first nights stay due to the wedding reception downstairs but this ended by 12.30.

Will definitely return when I next visit Bournemouth.
