I was quite surprised to see a tearoom at number 1 in Tripadvisor's list of restaurants in Bournemouth, even more surprised that I had never heard of it. So, is it as good as the TA reviewers say it is? Well, yes it is! My wife and I set off to investigate by having lunch this week. The food is very good indeed with the emphasis on "home cooked fare". There is a wide range of cooked breakfasts, which I would think attracts the local flat dwellers who live nearby. Then there are soups, sandwich style lunches and home made cakes, which attracted us, many teas, coffes and mochas, the latter being something of a house speciality and "afternoon teas* for holiday makers. Stafford Road is a fair walk from town, up Old Christchurch Road where the main shops are past the round island (Dean Park Crescent on your left) and up through the various clubs and restaurants until you see the next roundabout (The Lansdowne). Stafford Road is on your left just before this. On your way you will have seen many restaurants to return to for dinner and a couple of charity shops where you can buy some inexpensive books for your holiday reading. You don't have to return the same way if you want to go down to the sea, it is easier to pass the Bournemouth & Poole College, keeping it on your left which brings you to the East Cliff hotels and the zig-zag pathway down to the beach, or you may take the cliff lift.
