“Quite a surprise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

I was quite surprised to see a tearoom at number 1 in Tripadvisor's list of restaurants in Bournemouth, even more surprised that I had never heard of it. So, is it as good as the TA reviewers say it is? Well, yes it is! My wife and I set off to investigate by having lunch this week. The food is very good indeed with the emphasis on "home cooked fare". There is a wide range of cooked breakfasts, which I would think attracts the local flat dwellers who live nearby. Then there are soups, sandwich style lunches and home made cakes, which attracted us, many teas, coffes and mochas, the latter being something of a house speciality and "afternoon teas* for holiday makers. Stafford Road is a fair walk from town, up Old Christchurch Road where the main shops are past the round island (Dean Park Crescent on your left) and up through the various clubs and restaurants until you see the next roundabout (The Lansdowne). Stafford Road is on your left just before this. On your way you will have seen many restaurants to return to for dinner and a couple of charity shops where you can buy some inexpensive books for your holiday reading. You don't have to return the same way if you want to go down to the sea, it is easier to pass the Bournemouth & Poole College, keeping it on your left which brings you to the East Cliff hotels and the zig-zag pathway down to the beach, or you may take the cliff lift.

“Amazing....Must visit :-)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013 via mobile

I was taken to Frieda's tearoom while in Bournemouth as part of my 40th birthday surprise.
I'm always harping on about a prompt afternoon tea, and hubby had found this little gem...

The welcome on walking in was amazing, so friendly and warm.

The decor is clean and cheerful, in a vintage/shabby chic way, absolutely perfect.

We had the Afternoon tea for 2, I had coffee which was a good robust, but round blend, hubby had tea from a proper china pot :-)

The sandwiches were divine, the bread home made.. Proper yummy.

We had a selection of cakes including carrot cake, jam slice with cream and brownies which rendered hubby speechless.. They were amazing!

The scones and home made jam were beyond words...

All in all an absolutely dreamy experience.

This in a must visit for anyone in Bournemouth... It's worth the walk up the hill...

Thank you Frieda for the wonderful tea, see you again very soon

“Lovely but could have some more veggie options”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

I come here whenever my family visit as they absolutely love it, the food is delicious, my only negative feedback would be it'd be lovely to have a few more veggie options as I really struggled to find anything at all and some plain scones as well as fruit. The staff are warm and welcoming, particularly the blonde waitress. I don't think anyone would ever visit Frieda's and not return, fabulous.
