“Excellent pub with lots to offer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

Last year, on our first visit to Bournemouth, we were looking for a decent pub and had almost given up when we asked a passing traffic warden if he could recommend anywhere. He was very helpful and told us how to take the ten minute walk away from the sea front to the Goat and Tricycle. It was so good that we came back again today, a year later, as we were in the area. The staff are friendly and welcoming and they clearly want to give their customers a positive experience. There were 10 real ales on and we had the IPA which was perfect. For a Tuesday lunchtime the place was comfortably busy with a mix of locals and 'out of towners' like ourselves. The food was excellent. So if you are looking for a proper pub it is definitely worth the effort of seeking it out.

“Wish I lived near enough to make this my 'local'.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2013

We were introduced to this pub during the Bournemouth air festival and how nice it was to get away from the crowds for an hour or so to a traditional pub serving a superb selection of real ales and proper pub grub. Not somewhere you would stumble across so you need to look this place up on a map if you aren't a local (about a ten minute stroll up from the town centre to the 'triangle' area which will keep lots of shoppers and beach goers away).
A huge choice of real ales and a good selection of meals available. We all enjoyed the food (burgers were excellent) and there was plenty of seating when we visited early on a Friday evening.
All areas of the pub seemed to be very clean and the bar and waitress service were 'spot on' - we will definitely be back during our next visit to Bournemouth.

“"A hidden gem"- I couldn't agree more!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013 via mobile

This place has a really great selection of ales. The staff are friendly, and were happy to recommend me a few of their personal favourites. The food is also really good. I went for the chicken, roasted pepper and olive salad and it was excellent.

All in all, I give this place 10/10

“What a find !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

Like a real ale ? Make the effort to visit this one if you are in Bournemouth. As a real ale drinker I thought it was a great little find and I was spoiled for choice with a long row of beer pumps to ponder. Good selection of local beers and polite staff. Wish there was one like this at home.
Didn't eat but the menu looked good as did the food that was being served. Nice atmosphere and a real oldie worldy unspoiled feel to the whole place. Polite staff, clean toilets.
Loved it. Will definitely go again someday. It was quiet when we went but I would love to go one day when the place is packed, I think it would be a cracking night out.
