“Fantastic views!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

We were lucky enough to stay in the Coastguards Cottage. A spacious room with door opening out onto the lawn. Wonderful cliff top views out to sea and the pier.
The weather was hot and it was just a stroll across the lawn to the pool with outside bar and sunloungers.
The breakfast buffet was excellent. Plenty to choose from and good service.
The inside pool and sauna, Jacuzzi and steam room are all open to guests.
The staff couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating.
Our only gripe is that our key card to our room was cancelled after our first nights stay so we couldn't get into our room.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room. The cottages are great in the Summer, but you have to go outside to get in...

My girlfriend and I came down for a long weekend for a general relax by the seaside.

This hotel is superb. It manages to strike the right balance between being immensely friendly and welcoming without being over-familiar. The staff are helpful and attentive without being intrusive or overbearing. The food is generally good, but the dinner in the Grill Bar is superb (two AA rosettes and well-deserved).

Anyone who claims this hotel has bad service clearly wasn't been looked after by any of the people working while we were here. They were unfailingly pleasant and attentive.

Stayed for 2 nights during the Air Show weekend and have to say that despite the hotel (and Bournemouth generally) being rammed with visitors, the hotel delivered. Staff were friendly and were most helpful. The food was good despite the crowds. Facilities were great. Drinks were fine. Pool was good. Bars fine. Room - very clean and large with a view to die for. Don't get me wrong, this wasn't cheap, but it came up with the goods. Will certainly stay there again when in town.

Stayed 5 nights. We're regulars - every summer. Excellent from start to finish. Lovely welcome from Reception & Concierge. Superb room. 305. Spotlessly clean, very comfy bed (super king), quality linens, pillows, towels, bath/shower accessories/soaps, etc. small but adequate bathroom. Did not use computer so can't comment on speeds, but extra charges for that. Upgraded to Sea View Room. Thank you, BMH Management.
Fantastic views of beach & pier etc. - 3rd Floor room views best as more windows than 4th floor rooms. Restaurant Meals superb, especially 4 course "Taste of Dorset" Menu. (£32.50 each). All beautifully cooked & presented. Nice wine - served at optimum temp. Great service. Thanks to Mark, the Manager, & all his staff. Attentive but not overly so. Recommend Sunday Lunch. large portions, nicely cooked. very good value for this type of hotel. Breakfasts very good. Hot & cold choices excellent, plus extras charged as per Menu choice. Breakfast service sometimes chaotic, but not an easy meal to serve. Bar Meals - good choices. We had sandwiches & fish & chips. Service sometimes slow. Could be improved. Again, better management would help there. Good choice of drinks/cocktails/beers, etc. lovely terrace to sit out on, or in garden area at front of hotel. Leisure facilities great. Enjoyed both indoor & outdoor pools. Changing rooms clean. (You need £1 coin for lockers). Good showers. Staff pleasant, 'tho' not always at the leisure reception desk. Car Parking can be a nightmare, but Concierge assistance there on busy days.
Love the sound of the waves on the shore at night. Hubby had super surprise mini-cake with candle on his birthday at Breakfast & all staff sang "Happy Birthday" to him. Thanks to Gail, wonderful Assistant Restaurant Manager!
Thanks to all concerned, we had a much, much better holiday here than last year. Standards have definitely been raised. See you all again next year....!

We paid a high price thinking we were in for a treat ... Only to be let down and disappointed by the lack of service and poor staff manner . Guests were constantly complaining and seems the staff are used to it , no apologies or effort to put things right only poor attitude. Breakfast tables werent laid properly and had to ask twice for tea ... And cutlery ! Having said all that , we went for the air show and the location is fantastic , however you don't need to be a guest at the hotel to use the lawns and seemed like anyone could walk into the pool area there were no checks. Shame.

The Highcliffe Marriott hotel is truly an exceptional hotel that ticks all the boxes for my family.

The hotel is splendidly situated on the Westcliff front overlooking the sea and has both indoor and outdoor pools. The weather was glorious and the south of France would not top it for location.

Our visit to the Highcliffe was August 17th for a couple of days. Unfortunately I was taken ill and admitted to hospital for a couple of days longer than we planned to stay. I need not have worried because the wonderful management and staff did everything they could to look after my family and showed outstanding care and kindness to them which we are all very grateful for.

Apart from being a truly World Class Hotel with lovely bedrooms and lounge areas the staff
here are absolutely excellent and go above and beyond normal expectations. We will definitely will return for a family holiday, thanks to everyone at the Highcliffe.
