I took my family here for dinner and party included 2 seniors, 15&12 year old daughters Andy wife.
A Classic Italian to suit all tastes is always a quick win but trying to search out a good Italian restaurant in Bournemouth is a very difficult proposition.
Using trip advisor as the starting point, I looked into the top 5
Italians and this was one of them.
Location is good, very close to centre and reviews looked great.
On arrival, it was actually located in the Wessex hotel which looks like it hasn't seen much investment in the last few years. However, in wasn't staying here so not bothered and there were plenty of parking spaces in the hotel car park.
So, downstairs to the Amalfi restaurant and was greeted by a friendly waiter who took us to the table.
Actual restaurant is in the basement so not much natural light but pleasant enough with clean table cloths an deposed chairs.
Menus were typical Italian fare with a small special menu as well. Pastas, pizzas, fish and a few meat dishes.
On to the food, I had the minestrone which was very poor and lacking flavor. General feedback was also of similar opinion. For the main courses, i had the veal, others had pizza and pasta.
The food was certainly not wow but ok.
Don't set your expectations too high. This is not going to be the best Italian you have ever had but is still fairly expensive.
I wouldn't go back, I would try out the next on the list.
