“I've found it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2014

At last I have found a decent hotel in Bournemouth! And I got a bargain this January. I think you deserve more stars. Keep up the good work. Rooms finished to a high standard. Very handy for shops and beach

With the multitude of hotels in Bournemouth, there is plenty of health competition. The Collingwood certainly seems to have got it right, with good location, good decor, good facilities, good staff and good food. All of this is a generalisation though, as the facilities are excellent with a swimming pool, full size snooker table and games room. The corridors were being upgraded when we were there which didn't affect us, and our room was spotless with a modern bathroom. Dining room was also faultless. The staff were outstanding - always pleasant, polite, and smart. Will definately go back there.

Room Tip: Our room was at the top of the hotel and facing the sea. We had some pretty rough weather which mean...

We stayed at this hotel several years ago. It was nice then, but even better now. We booked a last minute 1 night stay and upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised with our family room. Absolutely spotless and really comfortable. It appears that the hotel is undergoing room and decor refurbishment.

The dining room also appeared to be newly decorated. Lovely full English breakfast served by really pleasant and helpful staff.

Parking is good at the rear of the hotel, with plenty of space.

We will definitely be returning.

This was our first New Year at the Collingwood and our first impressions were very good. A smiling Receptionist greeted us and we were checked in very quickly. Waiting for us in our rooms were two small bottles of champagne, a box of shortbread, a diary and pen. A nice welcoming touch. The room had obviously been refurbished recently and was very clean. We were booked on full board and the food was of a good quality with lots of choice and larger portions than I could eat. It was a change to be served breakfast instead of the usual buffet.

The only thing lacking, and I am being really picky here, was that there wasn't any daytime entertainment (it was a wet few days) and the dining room and lounge were sparsely decorated. Other hotels we have stayed in over New Year have had a full daytime programme and gone to town on the decoration for New Years Eve. But, as I have already said, I am being a bit picky here.

Would we go back, yes for a weekend away but not for New Year as it lacked the festive atmoshere.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back. The rooms at the front have a lot of traffic noise.

Have enjoyed a couple of formal dinners now at the Hotel Collingwood. On both occasions, the food and the service have been excellent, and we have received complimentary remarks from others in the party. Traditional, welcoming, good value.

Had a Three night "TWIXMAS" break at the Collingwood. Very good value for money, not much more than we paid for B&B stays in the Summer.
Very clean modern room. Would recommend rear facing the car park, no traffic noise at all.
Very nice restaurant, staff all very pleasant, and could not be more helpfull. Breakfast and evening meals, were a very pleasant suprise, excellent quality and portions in both.
Music in Ballroom at night was ok, considering the cost. Pool and Fitness Centre were very good, and seemed new.
Very convenient Car Parking at rear.
Position of hotel is good, a short walk down to Bournemouth.
This hotel is brilliant value for money, would stay here again when visiting Bournemouth, and would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Third floor, rear facing Car Park, Very quiet.
