“Lovely And Welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2007

i stayed at the Anglo Swiss Hotel in mid august for 7 nights. i dont usually like staying in hotels in mid august because they are very busy but with this hotel i really didnt ind.

three of us travelled down to bournemouth after booking 2 double rooms on their own website and we arrived much earlier than the 3p checking in time, so we went in and asked if we could just park our car in the car park for now and they said no problem.

at about 3.30pm we went back to check in and it was all very smooth even though the girl was new and did have to ask a few times, we went up to our rooms and what a nice surprise, the rooms were spacious, modern and very clean!

we only booked b and b but 2 nights we did eat in the hotels "aqua" brasserie and on the second night we ate their they had a number of specials including crocodile steak - it was delicious

breakfasts were fantastic - a large choice and you were just left to yourselves and could go up as many times as you like for either the cold or the hot buffet or both

all of the staff whom we came accross were lovely, caring, welcoming and polite

we really enjoyed our stay in the anglo swiss and would definetely reccomend it to anyone!

Excellent ..... food room and service were all very good. We had a wet but most enjoyable stay - made so good by the hotel staff and the feeling of being well cared for. We can highly recommend. Paid £110.00 for bb for 2 of us and worth every penny.

The hotel's publicity and website are very misleading. The location is good, they have parking, staff are friendly and helpful, breakfast was very good and the communal areas on the ground floor have been recently refurbished in a pleasing, contemporary, 'boutique' hotel style. I understand that some of the bedrooms have also been refurbished, but certainly not ours nor the otthers that we were shown when we complained. The rooms were very small, the decor 1970's, the room door was cheap and could not be locked, the furniture was cheap and flimsy and there was black mould/mildew on the steel window frames and around the bath. Our window overlooked a flat roof with building waste and cigarette ends. It 's not worth anything near the rate that they charge. The room was nothing like the photos on the website or in their brochure.

I came to Bournemouth for the first time after choosing the Anglo Swiss Hotel for its brilliant location. It's close to the beach, the town centre and the railway station. I was initially booked in to stay for a week while travelling around England & Europe but was enjoying my stay so much, I extended my stay to two weeks. The food was extreemly good with generous portions and good value too. The staff were so friendly, nice and professional and took time to get to know me and not because they had to but because they genuinely wanted to. They remembered my name and made me feel welcome all the time. Nothing was ever too much trouble, the service was always excellent.

The hotel room was beautifully appointed with a lovevly big comfortable bed and overlooked the front gardens of the hotel. The leisure centre was perfect for what I wanted with a nice big pool, jacuzzi, sauna and gym. Big fluffy towels were provided too and all this was available to me at no extra charge.

I had a really awesome stay, so thanks to all the staff and management. I will definitely come again and would recommend the Anglo Swiss Hotel to anyone thinking of going to Bournemouth for a long or short stay. Definitely one of the best hotels I have stayed in for a long time and I do quite a lot of travelling staying in hotels all over the world.

Just got back ....

The hotel was located very well but the rooms are v small (including the bed!). The room had v few facilities (no where to sit) and was very hot at night. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything. Had to sleep with the windows open & then was still v hot. Plus need ear plugs!

Lift v small and slow!

Breakfast was ok. Nothing special. Service at breakfast was good.

For the rate of £100 per night I would have expected better. Also a pot of tea at the bar (1.5cups) was £2.85 - seemed a bit steep.

Staff at reception ok though slow at checkout time. No one at desk and lots of people waiting. Need to have people at the desk!

Overall ok but rather pricey....

We have just retunred from a one night stay at the Anglo Swiss Hotel.
Only needing a hotel for one night we weren't all that worried if it wasn't a 5 star and were looking for a pleasant reasonably priced hotel or guest house. We found the Anglo Swiss on one of the hotel search websites and it seemed to be good value. From the minute we arrived at the hotel we were impressed on all accounts. The reception
staff were friendly, cheerful and helpful. The rooms were clean, bright and had modern decor, we were allocated a double room on the third floor which had a large window in the bedroom and also a nice large window in the bathroom (not something you get often). I can honestly say that every member of staff that we encountered was cheerful and friendly. Again at breakfast not only were the staff welcoming and provided a high level of service but also the food was excellent. I think the only down side fr us was that we were only staying ONE night. If we need accomodation again in Bournemouth we will definatley be going back to stay at the Anglo Swiss.
