Greatly positioned, but in need of a little TLC.
The hotel in positioned in a very good place as you are only 10 minutes from the Landsdown area and less than 10 minutes stroll from the east side beach lift.
We stayed there for 4nights in one of the cheapest rooms, that would have been nice for a couple on nights but not for the 4. The 3 storage draws are only on one side of the desk/table and one single wardrobe. As I said, ok for a night or two. But we found that it was not enough room for a couple sharing. Not a major concern but would book a bigger room if stopping longer.
The floor boards have been mentioned before and thought it was not that significant,,,,, until you experience it your self.... :-(. They are noisy and we did get woken a few times through the night.
The restaurant is nice, but can be cold in October if you are put away from the radiators. The cooked breakfasts is buffett style and often went cold before you got it back to your rable and had to get them sent to the kitchen to be warmed up,. The selection was very good and plenty of it
They did get mixed up one morning and when we came back with our breakfast someone else was sitting at our table, now as they had taken us to our table you would have thought they couldn't get they wrong eh...
We had an eve meal in the restaurant and the food was very good, well presented and good quality, the only moan would be the menu was the same every night and no specials. So we went out to eat on the other 3 nights.
The meals and wine costs are on a par with most the restaurants in the area, two courses and a bottle of wine around £55.
The room info folder stated that there was free wi fi in every room, take this with a pinch of salt... ;-) any of the rooms on the outside extreme of the hotel won't get free wi fi in the room we had number 6 and that had none. The free wi fi in the reception area was very sparce, when I asked the night porter about it I was told he was not an IT specialist and couldn't help.. :-) think he needs a bit of "customer service training" I was offered a room change so that I had wi fi available but as the reception service was poor I didn't think it was even worth bothering. I know it's a free service, but if its offered then it needs to be working, someone might have chosen the hotel for the free wi fi.....
Parking charges for the hotel are reasonable at £2.60 per day (incl vat).
Not the "Best" Western I have stayed in but ok for shorter breaks. Provided your willing to put up with the creaking floor boards.. I'm sure they are missing a chance to do a bit of murder mystery nights with boards like that, you will notice them as soon as you walk in reception.
All in all not too bad of hotel but needs a bit of work doing to it..
If you want free wi fi in your room ask for it when booking, that way they can put you in a room wit...
