“Pretty good !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2012 via mobile

This hotel is a 3 star and a lot better than some of the 4 stars I have stayed in. The hotel is in a fantastic location a 5 minute walk to the town, pavilion, beach etc. The room was small, but more than adequate for our needs. The staff were all very polite and accommodating. I paid just under £70 for a night b&b the breakfast was good and parking is free which is a bonus. Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for 2 nights B&B. The rooms have been refurbished but some other public areas are still to be done. We were very pleased with our large twin room on the 3rd floor although the radiator wasn't adequate and it was a bit chilly on the first night . On the 2nd night we were given a convector heater which made a huge difference. Unfortunately we were not able to eat in the hotel due to several parties going on. The breakfast, a buffet, was good enough but not exceptional. The staff were very helpful and the hotel is in a good position for the town which was an easy walk away. Try 'Zorbas' & 'Natural Born Grillers' for a very good meal reasonably priced (Both on the Old Christchurch Road & recommended on Tripadvisor).

Dear anngp,
Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel.
I am glad to hear that the staff were able to accommodate you with an extra heater and please be assured we will have our maintenance team look into it.
In December, we are able to cater for guests in our house restaurant; however we do recommend that if you are not wanting to join our party night guests, there may not be much atmosphere in our house restaurant if there is only a few people. We would much prefer that our guests enjoy the ambience and return than to be disappointed.
We hope to be able to welcome you again in the future.
Kind regards

Stayed in this hotel in December and paid only £49 for twin room and breakfast. The hotel is very clean as was our room. Free tea and coffee and bathroom shower gels made it superior to other more well known budget hotels even if the price suggest a much more basic stay. Ideal location within a few minutes walk of the seafront and town centre. Breakfast is especially to be recommended, lots of choice and even the opportunity to have freshly cooked items - again not the usual practice in a budget hotel. Only slight niggle is the several written instructions reminding guests of the need to accurately record their car registration, no guesswork or vehicles will be removed! - and making sure you know exactly when you can and cant order a drink from the bar! Overall this was a really good hotel that exceeded our expectations.

Dear Tracey V,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review.
I am so happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. I will certainly pass your comments about the breakfast on to our chef. Our head chef has worked here for over 25 years and consistently does us proud with the quality of his food.
I hope you will understand that the bar times being displayed so clearly is more to do with the time of year as we have to be careful with the number of Christmas parties and functions we have throughout December and need to be clear on the bar opening times.
Thank you again for your kind words and we hope to welcome you again in the future.
Kind Regards,
Rosie Wallace, General Manager

Stayed at this hotel after having our work christmas party there. Had a lovely room which was very well equiped with everything I needed. The bathroom was spotless and the bed linen clean and crisp. But the main detail which really stood out were the staff. They were fantastic. From the initial booking back in June, all the details were taken care of. Receipts issued promplty and whenever I rang with another query they always sorted it immediately. During my actual stay, the staff were so attentive and made our party a great night. Breakfast was very substantial with a choice of hot and cold food, plenty of fruit and small pastries. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Bournemouth.

After recently staying at this hotel, I have returned home from a very pleasant stay. Honestly rooms could do with a bit more attention to detail as lots of scuffs etc and forgot to put bath towels in our room on a few occasions. What really makes this hotel shine is the staff. They are a true credit to the hotel. Andy the manager always had a smile on his face which was extremly contagious. Nothing was too much trouble for Stephanie on reception who was extremly helpful with any of our needs. Overall all staff shined during our stay and you can tell it is a true team atmosphere.

We stayed here with our dancing group for a long weekend. The ballroom has a lovely floor and is a good size without any pillars. During the evenings we weren't bothered with anyone trying to sell drinks, if we wanted a drink we went to the bar and brought our drinks back which was nice. Staff are friendly and keen to help and the food was plentiful and hot. There's an excellent choice of gluten-free items on the menu, which is unusual and very welcome for those who can't have gluten. The lunch buffet on our final day was exceptionally good. The hotel is warm and well-furnished. Our bedroom (224) overlooked the sea and was a good size with a very large bathroom and a king-sized bed. Four pillows on the bed and extra pillows were provided in the top of the wardrobe, although I did feel these were all a little thin and overdue for replacement. One thing to bear in mind - there's no power point near the bed. I suffer from sciatica and need to sleep on a heated back pad - I had to go shopping for an extension lead as the only power points were too far away across the floor. One very nice touch was on our first day - we put the 'do not disturb' on the door as we were working all day in the room so we just made the bed ourselves. When we left the room we were pleasantly surprised to find a pack outside the door with clean towels, and replacements for the tea/coffee/toiletries etc in the room. It's not unusual for us to work during the day when we're away, and I've always had to ask for the tea and coffee to be replaced so this was a nice considerate touch and much appreciated. The hotel is a short walk from the sea and town centre and is on a fairly quiet road. A couple of tiny issues irritated me during our stay, and I emailed the management on our return. My email was replied to promptly and courteously reassuring me that my small niggles would be dealt with and would not arise in future. We look forward very much to next year's dance weekend.

Room Tip: Pay the supplement to get a sea view room - lovely views as the hotel is situated well above the pro...
