“Beautiful hotel, excellent service, great atmosphere and the most amazing food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2011

We had our wedding at the Green House and I cannot recommend this hotel enough. I have to start this review by saying that the Green House a "green" hotel, where sustainability is high on the agenda and the food is local and mostly organic. As we are passionate about these things, we decided to check it out as a wedding venue - and instantly fell in love with the place! The location is close to the beach, yet it's tucked away from the main road. The hotel has such a lovely feel about it - the rooms are beautifully decorated (with home made biscuits and organic cotton), everything is clean and uncluttered and the staff are simply amazing.
Our main dealings were with Helen, the manager, who was very friendly, easy going and helpful. Helen took the time and effort to arrange everything just as we wanted it and it was a pleasure dealing with her. She never lost her smile and played a big part in the wedding going smoothly. We cannot thank her enough. Everybody we dealt with was very friendly and the service we received was of an excellent standard. Even though standards are high, I have to stress how relaxed the atmosphere at the hotel is and that one just feels at ease.
We had a beautiful wedding, the events room looked just wonderful and we really couldn't have hoped for a better day. We spent the night there and the room was pure indulgence. Down to the natural hand wash, everything was perfect.
And then there was the food. Where do I start....I could really write a book about the amazing food at the Green House. We knew we were in for a treat when we went for a tasting menu before the wedding and had some of the best food we had ever tasted. But the food at the wedding...well, it blew us away. For the sake of brevity and not to have this turn into a food review, I will only say that their chef Gordon Jones is a genius. The menu is imaginative and colourful, the food of outstanding quality and with incredible flavours. You can just feel the passion Gordon has for what he does.
This hotel really is a treat. Outstanding.

Stayed for the weekend whilst in town to see a comedy show.
Hotel was in a great location, and incredibly comfortable.
The staff were all very friendly, without being over-bearing (friendly hello's felt genuine).
We ate the tasting menu in the restaurant, and the food was excellent value and top class
Rooms were well appointed (great little detail of a discrete tin of "ladies products" tucked under the basin). Would definitely recommend

I came along with my partner who was attending a three day conference in Bournemouth. We loved the hotel. It was extremely well run with delightful staff; nothing was too much trouble. We had a luxury double room and probably had the most comfortable nights sleep whilst we were there than we had had in a long time; very comfortable bed and lovely room.

Breakfasts were delicious; food prepared and cooked to a very high standard, Breakfast room nice and airy. The Bar area was well staffed and very comfortable.

As our stay went on, we appreciated more and more the high standard that was practised at this beautiful Hotel.

Will definitely stay there again!

Room Tip: Try and book a luxury double!

We stayed at this hotel for one night and it looked pretty good on first impressions. Clean, modern and in a good location for town and the beach. However... we booked a standard double room and it was nicely furnished but really small!! As other reviewers have noted... the walls are also really thin and not properly sound insulated from other guests. This meant we could almost hear full conversations in the room next door. We may have been unlucky with the room... but it sounds like other guests have had the same problem...

We also found the service to be really average. We waited 25 minutes for a drink to be delivered in the bar and breakfast was really disorganised. Again we waited for a long time for anyone to take are order (others were served around us) and when our drinks arrived we were given the wrong ones.

We are not normally fussy but when you may £120+ for a room you expect a decent level of service and a quiet nights sleep. The Green House provided neither!!

I have dined at this restaurant a couple of times now and the food only gets better. Both times we have taken the Tasting Menu and opted not to open the menu but to let the chef surprise us instead. The 5 course Tasting Menu with incorporated wines is a brilliant treat and you know that you get excellent quality for your money and not having to think what to order or which wine would suit the course best just adds to the pleasure of dining out. The courses are well sized and the time between them gives you time to discuss the course as well as have time for the food to settle before your next course.

The staff are quick and helpful and attend to your needs whatever they may be and are happy to tell you more about the food and wine you are enjoying if you wish.

I definetely recommend the restaurant to anyone who enjoys good food and wine in a stylish environment. I will most certainly go back there for another Tasting Menu.

Room Tip: Book in advance!

I booked on a weekend getaway package which included a bottle of English sparkling wine (delicious) a six course tasting menu (excellent) and a toiletries hamper (more of a small paper bag, but nice nonetheless) along with a lovely large room.

The hotel is conveniently located. A 5-10 minute stroll into town on a quiet road set a couple of streets back from the beach. The ecological theme is very impressive without being in your face - all credit to the owners for making such a luxurious place so environmentally friendly.

We stayed in the Beach room which was really stunning. Lovely comfortable bed, luxurious natural wool carpets, stunning bath (set in the middle of the room) and nice shower too. My only slight complaint was that it was a little bit noisy - the bedroom door didn't give much insulation from the hallway. You could also hear the bass from the speakers in the bar below. I didn't have too much trouble sleeping though.

The bar and restaurant, if a little bit clinical during the day really had a fantastic atmosphere during the evening. The food is excellent - the chef put on a pretty adventurous but delicious tasting menu with matching wines. In terms of high dining, we haven't had better in Bournemouth.

We'll definitely return - it makes a really pleasant break from the city.

Stayed at the Green House this weekend on the basis of rave reviews from both TA and friends. It is a lovely hotel and the food and service were very nice. The room was a bit dissapointing - small, the bed was great, the shower room small and dark. All in all lovely, but not quite as good as I had hoped.
