My husband and I spent last weekend in Bournemouth where we stumbled upon this jasmine-scented gem!
We have always eaten around Branksome and have a couple of favourite restaurants but we met a couple who had raved about this new Thai restuarant in the less desirable, but up-and-comnig Boscombe. We rang and managed to book a table for that evening (as we don't mind eating late, they fitted us in at 9:00). We arrived early to have a drink beforehand and were really suprised at the buzz this little restuarant was creating. From our taxi we could see the beautiful ambers and sunset reds of the interior, framed by floor to ceiling windows for the length of the building.
We were greeted warmly and though we had to wait a little longer than our allocated 9:00 table, we didn't mind as the barman was quite happy to test some new cocktails he was inventing on me and I can't say I minded either!
When we were seated we quickly chose a wide (my husband was by then very hungry and I was getting a little giggly) selection of their little Tapas dishes and were completely overwhelmed by the flavours and presentation. While we were at the bar the barman had helpfully talked us through some of the most popular dishes and we chose a couple of dishes we wouldn't have thought to otherwise-such as the cucumber salad (!) My husband had what he claimed to be the best Jungle Curry he had ever tasted and after absolutely insisting that I try some I braved a spoonful. Yes it was unbelievably spicy, but as with every other dish, the flavours we so delicate and well balanced. I actually ended up ordering an extra Green Curry as it was so more-ish.
We had a Spanish wine, I believe it was Abarinio, which our waiter highly recommended and adamently insisted completely changes flavour when teamed up with the jungle curry (which it did!) The combination was divine!
We didn't have any desert as we were a little too over-zealous with the Tapas, but couldn't have asked for a better evening. We felt relaxed, well-looked after and surrounded by people who were enjoying the food, some were clearly regulars! When we are next in Bourneouth we won't hesitate to come back for a meal and are just a little sad there isn't anything like this where we live.
