“Beautiful beachside meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

Came back to eat here because I loved it last time, this time came for lunch on a scorching summers day.
Sat outside on the terrace and got a fantastic view of the sea.
Was a crazy busy hot day (school holidays) but the service was great, staff were under pressure but still polite and friendly....
Food as great as last time, had a fantastic pizza, proper Italian style, great ingredients cooked perfectly....
Will be back again!

“Service was shocking”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

We were a group of 10,plus 3 children, we went on Father's day. Waited ages for our food orders and drinks, and it wasn't even a busy time (2pm)! The food was better than I expected though! They had run out of nearly all the desserts, and we waited 45 mins for them and the coffees to be brought out. Then another 30 mins to get the bill! They even brought us the next tables bill (who only had icecreams)! The staff didn't have a clue about what was going on, and when we complained to the manager he didn't really seem to be bothered that we had not recieved good service, he just said that it was one of those things. For £25 a head I expect good service.
All in all in was a real shambles, would have got a 1 but the qualitly of the food bumped it up! I will not be returning in a hurry.. Which is a shame as when this 1st opened and had Frankie as a manager and host it was a very good restaurant. ...

“Dinner by the sea”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

We have been to Vesuvio several times now during the day and it is a great place to eat right on the seafront at Westbourne. We decided to try it for dinner this time and we were not disappointed. The restaurant transforms itself from daytime dining into a totally different dining experience for the evening. Gone were the bare tables, replaced with fine crisp white tablecloths and soft seat pads all laid out beautifully for the evening service. The waiting staff are friendly and efficient, and nothing seemed too much trouble for them. Every plate of food that we saw looked good and appetising. It was fresh, tasty and just about the right size portions. If you are going peak season, you'll probable need to book to be safe and just be aware with all the families and visitors to Bournemouth, there were quite a few children around as it has a playground at the back of the restaurant. Having said that, they were very well behaved, and the Italians are very family orientated so this was not a problem for the restaurant which was nice to see. It was great to watch the sea as we were eating dinner. Definitely going back.

“Service let it down”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

My boyfriend was recommended this place by a local friend, so decided to take me there on our weekend away to Bournemouth.

The food was good and there was a vast choice ( it took me a long time to chose at it allo sounded great) I decided on the beef carpacio to start followed by a seafood pasta and my partner had olives (very spicy!) and a really delicious King Prawn and pea pasta.

What I thought let it down was the service. Having been to Blakes Restaurant at the Connaught the night before were we were made to feel like royalty, the service felt very poor when we came to Vesuvios. The Maitre d' was stoney cold and the waiter acted like he would rather be somewhere else.

“Right on the Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

Took the children here for a pizza. We were a bit hesitant but the quality of the food and service was above our expectations.
One criticism is that we found the house wine lacking in
choice and quality.
