My husband and I used this hotel because it is near the BIC where we attended a concert. We really didn't care about beaches and anything which was all-inclusive, but a roof over our heads for one night.
Upon arrival, it took us about 30 minutes to decide to just park illegally so that we could check-in and arrange to have the car parked for us. On entry to the hotel, check-in was okay, but they told me to go to the porter to arrange our parking. When the porter finally came around (30 minutes later), the already long line of customers was not handled terribly well. Basically, the porter told each person, individually, all of the same information which was that the parking was cheaper in the local lots, but first, there was no parking, second, we heard him the first time, so he didn't need to repeat it over and over again (with the prices of each!), and finally, once I was able to convince him I really did want to have him park my car, he declared I needed to go to reception to pay the fee. Since I'd already been to reception and had specifically asked about parking, I'm really wondering about the process. Why didn't they just have me pay when I checked in???
The hotel staff was generally rude and unhelpful. We traveled with our dog and instead of getting help with taking our things to the room, again from a porter, my husband had to bring in everything and leave me in the lobby with the luggage and dog crate. The staff could see us struggling up and down the stairs, but didn't even offer assistance. In fact, some thought it quite humorous.
The room was reasonably clean, which is about the only thing going for the hotel, especially since we had a dog and rooms which will take dogs tend to be really awful. Our main complaint about the room was that it was extremely hot and there was neither air conditioning nor opening windows. It was stifling and uncomfortable, making sleep difficult at best. Further, we needed to be on the road by 7:30 the next morning since my husband needed to fly to Toronto for work.
Our dog, thank goodness, didn't bark once throughout the night even though people were running through the halls drunk at 4 AM. They were shouting loudly and awakened many guests. The creaking floors didn't help with this either.
In the morning, we took the dog out for her constitutional and found the outdoor area hadn't even been cleaned up from the night before! There were plates and glasses on several tables along with sharp objects on the ground.
This hotel appears to be over-rated and doesn't try to get repeat business with its service. In fact, when we passed the brasserie in the morning, the food even smelled bad. I guess I have higher standards than some people, and unreasonable expectations for sleep when I pay for a bed for the night.
