“All the aspects of a proper cream tea are here with a traditional feel.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2011

Fresh beautifully shaped scones in a variety of flavours, wholemeal with herbs, gluten free, and heart shaped plain scones.Homemade jam(not often found these days)-gooseberry and strawberry.Beautifully presented fresh salad.Delicious home made chutney and fruit dressings.Good chips with main course, vegetables a bit disappointing.
Creamy celariac and potato soup and cheese on toast (my daughters dislike celariac but said this soup was delicious)
Cakes that are rather too large in portion but really traditional with plenty of variety.Coffee, fruit, lemon, victoria, and a gluten free choice.
As others have said a delightful setting on the cliff, nice for a walk afterwards or just to sit and admire the view.
The china and cake stands and overall angel theme are appealing.
The service was a little slow but made up for by the freshness and fine quality.
Good choice of products to buy that have been made locally and that I presume are the products they use.
Overall a lovely way to spend a relaxing time with special people. Not cheap but excellent value for money.
I would definitely recommend to the cake and afternoon tea fan.
This is probably the best cream tea I have seen in a long time.
Portions are a little on the large side,so often people are wasting good food which is a great shame.
A good point is that there are small portions for children and I think they should advertise that could be the same for oaps!
Well Done to who ever inspired this restaurant..

“The hidden jewel of Babbacombe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2010

Just had my first visit to the Angels tea room, did not book a table as thought on a wet ,windy cold Friday it would be half empty, WRONG! most tables reserved we were very lucky to get a table as people were being turned away, that speaks volumes for the place! so my advice is to book, what ever the day.
We had the "full angelic tea for two" this was £16.50, that sounds alot, but you got alot for it, a choice of 2 sorts of sandwich, cinamon toast, two sorts of scones (the ginger ones are to die for), and a choice of cake! and a pot a REAL tea.
This was presented on a lovely china tier stand, lace table cloths, and your bone china tea cups.
So you may have an image of the two victorian "ladies" from little Britain! but this place also has a licence and I could see many a person having a glass of wine or a beer with their lunch, and also they do a "champagne cream tea" that includes hald a bottle of cava at £10.95 for birthday etc, this is a nice idea, There is a larger seating area outside, and on a summers day I couldn't think of anything better than to sit looking out to the downs with a champagne tea!
And on a last note, two of us couldn't even manage all the cake and they even wrapped it up for us to take home.

“The almost perfect cream tea”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2010

We had cream tea here twice during a short stay in Torquay. The earl grey tea itself is not very outspoken and could have more bergamot, but the food is heavenly. A good choice of sandwiches and scones, all made fresh and lovely tasting. Jam and lots of clotted cream come with the cream tea. The atmosphere is cozy and service is friendly. Perfectly located overlooking the sea, this tearoom has a lot to offer.

“Best food we had in Torquay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2010

Small tea room/restaurant which serves the most delicious afternoon teas and breakfasts. We went back for more. Dog friendly on outside terrace area with water bowls. Attentive friendly staff. And more importantly... good quality produce, cooked well and served on mis-matched china. Loved it!

“We were recommended this tea room from...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2010

We were recommended this tea room from the hotel we were staying in. We arrived at around 11:45 on Bank Holiday Monday and were lucky to get a table as most were reserved. Thank goodness they found us a table as the cream tea is out of this world. Not the cheapest but certainly the best I have tasted. My 11 year old son had the Vanilla shake and was in heaven! Bramble jam is another true find as you get choices of jams. We will certainly be back. Thanks Angels for an excellent cream tea.
