“A perfect home from home for a great break in Torquay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2011

I stayed here for 2 nights - and everything was perfect . The room and bathroom were spotless. The breakfasts were amazing- so much to eat !! The location is perfect too. Just around the corner to catch a bus into town , or the pleasant walk into town takes around 15 to 20 minutes . The owners explained all this ,and more , before I arrived, so there were no surprises- apart from just how good it is here !!

We have just come back from one of the best ever holidays we have had. The hospitality was excellent, they could not do enough for you. The breakfasts were the best we have ever had in any other Guest House we've stayed in. The rooms were spotless and cleanliness was second to none. We would recomend everyone who is thinking of going to Torquay should seriously consider staying here

We spent five nights here in August '10 and in our opinion The Mariners Guesthouse is the perfect place to base yourself when exploring the English Riviera.

Nestled halfway up Belgrave Road, a five minute walk (downhill!) to the sea front, fifteen minutes from the harbour and town centre, The Mariners provides a central, but calm location in Torquay.

The first thing to point out - as other reviews have done - is the superb breakfast laid on by the hosts. It really is as good and as hearty as previous reviewers have made out!

The standard set by the breakfast is maintained throughout the guesthouse - the rooms are kept spotlessly clean, the hosts are friendly and knowledgeable of the area, and night times are peaceful enough - permitting decent recuperation from the hard slog of the day before!

For the reasonable rates paid this is a superb guesthouse which we would recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area.

We stayed at the Mariners for two nights, booking the day before our visit. Upon arrival we were instantly upgraded to a larger room , free of charge. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The guesthouse was incredibly clean, well kept and tastefully decorated. The rooms were very comforatble and well equipped. The wide variety of breakfast was very good and the cooked breakfast option was the best cooked breakfast I have ever had!
The hotel location was ideal as we did not use our car at all during our stay.
We would definaltey return back to this guest house if we visit the area in the future.
