“Good value B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

Expect a warm welcome from the new owners. They have great plans for the future but even as things stand the Brandize offers excellent value for money and is within very easy reach of the beach and town centre.

Room Tip: No 3 faces south so gets plenty of sunshine.

We took a half term break in November 2012. We arrived to meet Rick and Sarah Rowe who had just taken over the hotel. We received a very warm welcome and enjoyed a relaxing week. The en-suite room was large and well appointed with a full size shower, the food was excellent.
The Hotel is well placed to visit Torquay town centre, Cockington Forge, Paignton, Brixham and Babbacombe. The local buses make it easy to explore the surounding areas.
We are returning in June 2013 to the Brandize and would recommend it without hesitation for a family holiday.

Room Tip: We were in room 5 which is at the front of the hotel. We were given a choice of rooms and all were g...

The hotel was great and the owners were very welcoming! My family have been back every year for the past 9 years and each time we enjoy it very much! They are very helpfull with my husbands dietry needs and my children feel like its a home from home and cant wait to go there again! Our room was very clean as always! I cant wait till our visit again next year and our children want us to book up again for next year already!

I returned to The Brandize following a stay in early 2009. What a strike difference! The rooms have been vastly improved with new decor, with new TVs etc. The ensuite bathrooms were a blessing, as you dont always get these in Torquay. I read a previous review about the absent owner, but I feel that this is completely unjust! I go on holiday, to go on holiday - not to chat to the owner for a week! Garee appeared to be working non-stop to maintain the high standards of The Brandize and this is to his credit. The gardens were lovely, breakfast was excellent, and he made us feel so very welcome! I just hope it isn't over 3-years before my next visit! Keep up the good work Brandize!

Arrived at the Brandize at 1300 hrs to met at the front door by a pile of dirty washing,& a message to say if no one answers the door please phone this number, and after some time the owner came to the door ( not an auspicious start.).
Frankly the hotel looks as if it should be pulled down . It is badly in need of renervation. The rooms are dowdy and poorly maintained, our on suite had a hot water tap that worked in reverse, and the extracter fan went on for hours plus the toilet ran for ever , and as for the beds, most suitable for a FAUQUIRE.
When you went for breakfast you where asked to go into what I can only call the Dungeon, having to bend very low down a flight of stairs in to the basement..
But the most upsetting part of our stay was the fact we only saw the OWNER 4 times during our whole 4 days there. This gentleman seems to have a Note writing problem ! they were every where telling you what you should NOT do..

All in All a disaster from begening to end

My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights B&B during July and couldn't fault it. The hotel is in a good location, within walking distance of the seafront, town, restaurants etc. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful, making us feel very welcome. Our room was lovely and clean, with lots of storage and a good en-suite bathroom, flat screen wall mounted TV and a very comfy bed! We were provided with a booklet containing information on all the local attractions and discount vouchers, Garee also provided a wealth of knowledge about the best things to see and do in the area. Our breakfasts were fantastic, the choice was really good and the food tasted great! Would definitely recommend and we plan to return!

We had the warmest welcome I have ever had at a hotel, the owner took the bags out of the car and straight to our room. Our bed was huge and super comfy and the kids slept well in their bunks, we also had a lovely view from our bay window. The breakfast was wonderful, nice range of cereal and excellent full English. The bar was homely and had a nice range of family games we took advantage of in the evening. Superb value for money and excellent family service.

Room Tip: Family room with bay window at front of hotel, recommended.
