“Excellent retreat, very peaceful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012 via mobile

Warm welcome. Room beautiful and clean. Breakfast and service excellent. Would highly recommend. Very peaceful location approximately 15 minutes away from the hustle of the town. Excellent choice of restaurants with the owners recommending several. Will most certainly be returning next year.

Stayed 1 night at the Torcroft in October with my teenage son. We thoroughly enjoyed our short time there. When we arrived we were greeted with afternoon tea in the lounge area which was vey thoughtful after a long day's drive. The owners were very helpful and welcoming to their guesthouse. We had 2 single rooms which were very spacious, clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast was included and was delicious with a wide range of hot and cold foods. The Torcroft is located in a lovely area within a short walk to the town. We regretted not staying longer here as we loved Torquay and the Torcroft. Planning my UK holday next year and would love to return here. Totally recommend this B & B.

We spent a long time trawling the internet for hotels in Torquay and finally chose The Torcroft. It proved to be an excellent choice as we had a lovely weekend. The owners are friendly and helpful, the room we had was small but good and the breakfast excelllent with lots of choice. The hotel is well situated just a short walk to the centre and the beach. They have restaurant recommendations and we had a lovely meal at the Italian in town.Tthe honesty bar is a great idea. We fully intend to return in the future.

I found The Torcroft to be a very pleasant, clean hotel with helpful, friendly staff. Neil and Sally went out of their way to make us feel welcome and were on hand to supply our every need. The "honesty bar" operates well and it is good to be trusted! Breakfast was well cooked and a there was a wide range on the menu.

On this visit I was staying by myself and I had a "cozy double" at exactly half the price of the standard double. There was plenty of room and the bed was a good size for a large man! The en-suite facilities were quite adequate and the storage facilities good.

The Torcroft is situated about 10 minutes gentle walk from the sea-front, albeit on a bit if a hill. I would recommened The Torcroft as a good, well-run hotel which privides a good night's sleep and an enjoyable stay.

Had a fab week here , the breakfast was the best IV ever had for choice ! We stayed 7 nights and never got board of it once !! I booked the balcony room which had a lovely top of the range bathroom ! Like others have stated looks like this hotel is an on going project would love to see this room when it's decorated to the same STANDERD as the bathroom , as we passed other rooms noticed they looked far superior in decor to ours ! But like they say Rome wasn't built in a day ! Yes there were 2 kittens ( I'm allergic to cats and don't particulary like them ) but they were no prob to us , as for the hills ! They are only on the way back ;) all in all high reccamend this hidden gem

We were so pleased that you enjoyed your week's stay with us. There is so much to see and enjoy in the Torquay area, and many guests only stay for one or two nights and say they haven't seen everything. We're glad you liked the refurbished en-suite. Now that the summer is over we will be getting down to serious decorating/building work and will be transforming the two balcony rooms into balcony suites, which will be twice as big. We wish we could do everything at once, but like all small independent hotels, we can only do what we can afford, and in the current climate we have to be mindful of balancing Sally's 'hotel makeover' ambitions with Neil's sensible caution.

I stayed here in a single room with 13 others attending a conference at the Riviera Centre, which is within easy walking distance but in a quiet location, We were greeted warmly after our long drive and as the weather was warm we were offered freshly made coffee and home made chocolate cake on the terrace.
My room was spotlessly clean, had plenty of drawer space and a wardrobe with a large number of hangers. I mention this because when going somewhere for more than a few days I always pack hangers as there are never enough. I did not use the flatscreen TV but made use of the free wifi, again that is appreciated as many hotels still charge for this facility.
The bed was comfortable as was the pillow. The heater in the room could be easily turned up or down as required.

There is a comfortable lounge and bar with a wide selection of reasonably priced drinks.

Breakfast was excellent, a large choice of cereals, fruit juice and fresh fruit, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. Pots of tea or freshly made filter coffee and a lovely full English if wanted, but a choice of ingedients to taste.

Not one of my 13 colleagues had any criticism of the hotel at all, we all enjoyed our stay there and would be happy to return in the future.

We like hosting conference groups, as they are always cheerful and good company - probably enjoying a break from their usual work and having a bit of a holiday. As we have a bar and lounge there is somewhere for a group to meet up and chill after a day at the Riviera Conference Centre.

We booked a 3 night stay at this hotel for a mini break. what can I say about this hotel................ well its fabulous! Greeted with a very warm welcome, the hotel is run by a lovely couple who leave you to enjoy your stay but are always on hand should you need them. We had a fantastic double room with a balcony and sea views which was very comfortable, spacious and spotlessly clean, the bathroom was beautifully done( very modern) The hotel is in a quiet but very convenient location just a 15 minute walk to the sea front/ harbour. The breakfast was superb, plenty of choice including fresh fruit, cereals, a full english and more. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and it would definitely be our first choice of stay on revisiting Torquay depending an availability.

Thanks for telling us about your stay at the Torcroft.
We try very hard to get the basics right; cleanliness, lovely rooms, great breakfasts and personal service, and it is really gratifying when guests appreciate our efforts.
A 3 night break is just about the right length of time to visit some of the attractions of the English Riviera. We look forward to seeing you again so you can get to know some of the hidden treasures of South Devon.
