This was our forth visit to the Somerville and yet again we had a 5 star experience. Grant & Adam can't do enough to make your stay a pleasant one.

I have recommended The Somerville to many of our friends.

We will definately revisit

Room Tip: If your budget allows then go for one of the suites. They make all the difference. The Garden suite...

My Husband and I have spent another wonderful break at The Somerville and a very warm return welcome from Adam and Grant. On this occasion we booked the Somerville Suite and found it to beautifully appointed. We especially loved the lavish mirrors and the stunning light fittings. We gave ourselves time to enjoy the room and it was particularly nice to watch Downton Abbey from the settee in peace and quiet!

Great having a fridge in the room as our complimenary water was nicely chilled and we could store the fresh milk provided, for morning tea.

The breakfasts are even better and much thought and imagination has gone in to provide the guest with a vast choice. New to us this time were the dainty breakfast trifles which were much enjoyed and appreciated. Fresh friuts are a feature and choices included red berry fruits, mango, pineapple, blueberries and delicious plump prunes. Grant is a master of the good English cooked breakfast which we both indulged in each morning......!!! Pastries and jams are superb and a good selction of toast finished the most important meal of the day!

We can't remember how many times we have visited the Somerville but I do know that we have slept in most of the rooms! They are all wonderful and well furnished and the whole style is pretty unique. We can't praise The Somerville enough but Grant and Adam provide an outstanding level of customer service and fully deserve all the accolades they have achieved. This is a great way for me to staywhilst visiting my home town and we would like the lads to know just how much we appreciate them! x

Room Tip: The suites are outstanding and afford you more space.

As a returning guest I can only sum up the experience at The Somerville as so very welcoming -it's everything you should be able to expect when staying away - but so rarely actually find! From the moment you arrive you are made to feel that nothing is too much trouble and the entire experience is relaxing and enjoyable. The rooms are extremely comfortable and the housekeeping excellent. Grant and Adam are wonderful hosts full of useful local knowledge and always helpful. Thank you - we are looking forward to next time already! Sue and Peter.

Room Tip: All are to a good standard although sizes vary - however pricing very fairly reflects this.

Having stayed at the Somerville this weekend I must share we received outstanding customer service from arrival right through to leaving. The ambiance was warming , the bedrooms beautifully furnished and the breakfast delicious. Everyone was so polite and helpful. Highly recommend you should stay here. We are going back to stay in 4 weeks.

Room Tip: The suites upstairs are exquisite.

I come from Torquay and all my family live down there, but my parents were having a party for their 40th wedding anniversary. Initially, i thought i would check into the hotel where the party was, but was put off by the reviews on trip advisor! Then i noticed someone had written on there try the Somerville! Within 5 minutes, i had booked the hotel and upgraded to a suite! Well Adam & Grant know how to take care of you. The rooms are very comfortable, with a good sized bathroom and beautiful complimentary st kitts Herbery shampoo, conditioner and soap. The towels are big and fluffy too. Their in room info is well worth the read informing you which restaurants to try and which to avoid. Breakfast is in the conservatory & boy, do they know how to do breakfast. We both had the full english the first morning with endless pots of tea and a little homemade trifle which was delicious. They source all their products locally. The second morning, we had eggs benedict - one with bacon and the other with smoked salmon, and they don't hold back on the portions. This was probably the best hotel we have stayed in and that trumps our english honeymoon hotel!! We will definitely be going back even though i have family that i can stay in torquay with!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Torwood Suite, and even though it is facing the main road, we were not bothered by...

What a fantastic B&B!! We stayed in two different suites on our 3 night stay. Both of which had fabulous decor, very clean and added touch of liquorice allsorts! Adam and Grant were both great hosts. Breakfast was excellent with a variety of choices including breakfast trifles. We were given a list of restaurants which was very helpful 2 of which we tried. We would definitely recommend The Somerville and have no hesitation in returning again.

Thank you for posting such a lovely review.

We are constantly updating and reviewing what we do in order to give our guests the best possible experience. We have recently started working with a local bakery and the fresh bread delivered to us daily is proving popular. We are also working with Riverford Organics and now have organic milk, yogurt as well as fruit & vegetables.

The Somerville in Torquay has to be one of the most incredible B&B stays there is - top value for money, full of thoughtful touches, immaculate and tasteful decoration and a simply wonderful breakfast to boot. If you in the area you should really find an excuse to stay.
