“Lanscombe House 5 star quality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Booked up at short notice, lovely couple with a lovely hotel in a wonderful location. i would say it was a good place for walkers as you are out the way but not far from anywhere. My one regret was we never found time to visit the local village although this is a reason to return.

Room Tip: We had a rear room which was overlooking the gardens, nice and peaceful.

Every consideration has been given for guest comfort at this really lovely small hotel, in a unique situation. A perfect place to relax, so quiet, but in easy reach of everything. Leon and Paula are so approachable, and the house is kept in immaculate condition. They are providing perfect accomodation for a wonderful stay. We would highly recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Room 7 ideal

I spent 4 days at Lanscombe House and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quality B&B in the Torquay area. It was sufficiently out of town to be easily accessed and yet near enough to be handy for the centre of Torquay. It was very professionally run.

With my daughter and son-in-law I was looking for a quality hotel that would give us the chance to relax and unwind in comfort. We also wanted somewhere that was not going to be miles from anywhere. It seemed a tall order - but Lanscombe House fitted the bill absolutely perfectly.
Leon and Paula were perfect hosts nothing was too much trouble, whether it was advice on places to visit or just a chat over breakfast (which were fab). The welcome was genuine and warm.
The whole house was impeccable. Details like bottles of filtered water being available at all times and cafetieres in the rooms added a sense of luxury. As did the locally made chocolates and toiletries.

There was absolutelynothing not to like! If anyone is looking for somewhere to stay in Devon this is the place.
Thank you Leon and Paula

We recently had a lovely stay and felt totally relaxed and welcomed by our hosts, who were only too happy to chat and recommend walks and places to eat. The rooms are spacious, spotless, comfortable and everything is run smoothly.
It's a wonderful place with bags of history and the location is superb. I would recommend you to stay there, so do not hesitate to book up, you will not regret a thing.

We stayed at Lanscombe House for two nights and it was not long enough!! The room was large very clean and tastefully decorated. The bed was extremely comfortable. We loved the small box of chocs!! and what a treat, real coffee (kept in the fridge on the landing) and a Cafeteire. The breakfast room is light and very nicely arranged, breakfast was superb with locally sourced Ingredients.
Paula and Leon are lovely hosts, Leon welcomed us warmly and made us coffee which we had sitting in the garden. Paula helped us decide on a restaurant to have dinner in, and even booked it for us, we were not disappointed as it was a superb meal, so thank you Paula.
The location is excellent, set in tranquil Cockington village, close to Torquay yet it could be a million miles away.
We will definately return.

We went back to Lanscombe house a year later and enjoyed our stay even more than last year also taking friends with us this year.
There wasn't loads of changes, but the ones that had been made just make it even better.
They have brand new tables and chairs in the breakfast room and a slight change to breakfast which add to the creature comforts. The rooms are spotless and very comfortable with the antique furniture which suits the age of the house.
Can't wait to see the outside areas being completed with the new swimming pool.
It's set in a small quiet village that lets you escape away from the hussle and bussle of the main holiday resorts without being too far away from them. Local buses run through the day and local taxi frims are resonable for the evenings. Torquay and Paignton are both in walking distance.
The water taxis are a plenty to catch in Torquay to take you to several other places in the surrounding areas and the steam train is a must to see beautiful Dartmouth.
Thankyou to Paula and Leon for another great stay.

Room Tip: We chose the kingsize sliegh bed room but would love to try the room with the slipper bath and seper...
