“Lovely place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013 via mobile

I stayed at the Haytor whilst at a conference with work. It was very well presented, cosy, friendly staff and good food. Whilst sadly I didn't have time to see how close it was for activities in the area it's clearly close to the sea and the town centre whilst being in a very nice and quieter part of town. The rooms were very nice, lovely bathroom luxuries and teas selection. The stay was fairly priced and worth every penny. Wood recommend to all.

Thanks for taking the time to leave your review and for your kind comments.
We hope to see you again, whether it be for business or pleasure, and maybe you'll get the chance to explore the area more and try some of the great eateries nearby, ranging from Traditional chippies to Michelin starred.
We've continued with our program of improvements with new extra large pillows for our King and Superking beds, and luxury mattress toppers on all beds as well as lots of other tweaks around the building and hopefully we can go the extra mile next time and get that 5th ... is it a dot or blob.

We stayed for a night - a short but busy trip so a hotel with good location and nice room is essential and we weren't disappointed.

Roger is warm and helpful. First thing into the hotel he sat us down told us pretty much everything we need to know from the hotel itself to where to go for nice food. The room is spacious and delightful. The ensuite bathroom could perhaps be done up a little bit more, but I was extremely pleasantly surprised to see the toiletries on offer - they were from Aromatherapy Associate!!! Its quite a high end brand, which is sold in, to name but a few known retailers, Liberty of London and Space NK. I use the brand myself and to be fair I totally did not expect it from a hotel I'm hardly paying anything for. Its a good indication of the level of attentiveness and the standard the hoteliers are setting for themselves.

The excellent location meant that even though we were 1930 on a Sunday evening when we checked in we can still easily go to one of the top restaurants in Torquay nearby, and still be in time to return after the hotel to have a drink at the bar and enjoy the nice company of Roger (and the 2 little angels Macy and Coco - dog lovers take note!).

The bed is lovely - not too soft / firm, I felt asleep straight away and woke up totally refreshed.

The breakfast is really good as well - hubby is dairy and gluten intolerant and he was offer soya milk, gluten free sausages and bread pretty much there and then! The scramble eggs were devine, really!

All in all the stay was wonderful. I am plannig to return to Torquay sometime one summer, and I am sure to return to Haytor and would recommend to all my friends!

Room Tip: I chose the "exective double" which was only a £10 more than a standard double, but it com...

We stayed for 5 nights 9/11/13 - 14/11/13. The fairly new owners of 11 months, Roger and Peter, are doing a great job. The room was spotless and the bed comfortable. The breakfast is tasty and fills you up adequately, a great start to the day. The room was warm and cosy. I cannot fault the boys on their hospitality skills, so thanks lads, we will be sure to book again next year.

Two night stay. A very enjoyable stay. Hotel is perfect for the town easy walk down hill bit steep on way back. Room was ideal clean tidy and very well decorated and appointed. Breakfast plentiful and perfectly cooked. Will definitely use again and would recommend. Owners should be very proud of what they have achieved with their Hotel.

Room Tip: Upgrades well worth it

We stayed for 1 night at the end of October on a tour of the West Country. We chose this hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews and because it had parking. The hotel is a large house within a short walk of Torquay harbour. It was clean, spacious and well appointed. The host was excellent and recommended a place for our evening meal (oldest pub in Torquay which was great too). Breakfast was first class.

Have just returned from 4 nights stay with my husband and son. An excellent stay. So friendly and made to feel very welcome. High standards at breakfast and the rooms spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel. Ticks all the boxes.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms for the less mobile.
